Specifically, the members of the organized crime group sent to the dock identified and instigated several people, especially young people with an athletic body constitution, including former convicts, organized by the members of the group into so-called “special groups.”
Both the accused were remunerated (some 1000 lei per day) and those recruited by them. The latter, therefore, were prone to commit crimes and illegalities. Moreover, the members of the group trained them in advance about the way to act violently during the demonstration. Later, the accused organized their movement in the municipality of Chisinau as well as their accommodation in apartments, in two sectors of the capital. The mass riots that law enforcement officers have evidence that the accused were preparing throughout 2023 were to be implemented including against the background of the protest action on Sunday, March 12. Now, following the completion of the criminal investigation, the PCCOCS prosecutors will send the file to court, for examination of the merits and sentencing.
The accused are still in state custody, following the actions of the PCCOCS prosecutors, satisfied by the Chisinau Court, Ciocana headquarters. According to the criminal law, participation in mass disturbances is punishable by imprisonment from 3 to 7 years. Investigations into the underlying case continue, during which those concerned benefit from the presumption of innocence, according to the law.
