Expressing concern over the number of vacant posts at various levels in Anganwadi centers in the country, a parliamentary committee has asked the Center to write to states with a high number of vacancies and seek a time table to fill up these posts. Is.

This has been said in the report of the Standing Committee on Women, Child Development, Sports and Education, headed by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Vivek Thakur, presented in Parliament on Tuesday.

As per the report, the committee expresses concern over the vacant posts at various levels in the Anganwadi centres. Inadequate availability of Anganwadi workers/staff in Anganwadi centers has been a matter of constant concern.

It added that the committee is of the view that since the overall responsibility for the successful and effective implementation of the scheme rests with the states, it is their responsibility to fill up the vacancies.

The Committee recommends that the Ministry write to each State where the number of vacant posts is high to ensure that the vacancies are filled at the earliest.

The committee also said that a time table should be sought from them (states) by when the vacancies are likely to be filled.

As per the report, the committee has also asked the states to submit a status report based on the information provided by them.

The parliamentary committee also recommended that the ministry direct the state administration to complete the construction work of toilets and drinking water facilities in such anganwadi centers where these facilities are not available.

The committee appreciated the increase of Rs 291 crore in the budget of Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, while reiterating its earlier recommendation that the road map prepared in consultation with the states towards infrastructure development and capacity building of Anganwadi centers Will be very helpful in identifying various services and accessing Anganwadi centers.
