The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, announced a possible doubling of the US defense budget in the event of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, which could happen in the event of a violation of the post-war order. According to Austin, the Pentagon may be forced to double its spending in this case. This is reported by the news agency RIA Novosti.
Earlier it became known that the United States decided to transfer older versions of Abrams tanks to Ukraine in order to speed up the delivery. However, an increase in defense spending may lead to additional spending on military purposes and possibly negatively affect the country’s economy. It is not yet clear how the increase in defense spending will be implemented in the event of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
