According to IGSU, according to statistical data, rescuers and firefighters performed 4,800 missions, 56% less than in the same period last year. Since the beginning of the year, more than 300 people have been rescued from dangerous situations, 89 of them from fires. Also 211 people were rescued following search and rescue missions.

The analyzed period of the current year was generally characterized by low average temperatures compared to the same period last year, a fact that generated a decrease in the number of dry vegetation burning outbreaks. Thus, in the first three months of 2023, rescuers and firefighters extinguished 888 vegetation fires, compared to 6,476 vegetation outbreaks liquidated in 2022, registering an 86% decrease.

A decrease in the number of fires by 21% was also witnessed in the housing sector. In the first three months of the current year, 839 fire outbreaks were liquidated, compared to 1,062 registered in the same period of the previous year.

Also in the first three months of 2023, a decrease in the average response time to emergency calls was recorded. Thus, according to IGSU, the help of rescuers became much faster compared to previous periods.
