New Delhi, 21 April (Hindustan Times). Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that the present government is giving priority to the underprivileged in its work. Earlier it was thought that the government will do everything, but now the thinking is that the government will do it for everyone.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, today addressed civil servants, at Vigyan Bhawan, in New Delhi, on the occasion of Civil Services Day. Along with this, the Prime Minister’s Awards for excellent work in public administration were given during this event. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Excellence Awards have been instituted with a view to recognize the extraordinary and innovative work done by the Central and State Governments, districts and organizations for the welfare of the common citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the present government is making better use of time and resources with the spirit of working for all. With the mantra of ‘Nation First, Citizen First’, the government’s priority is to give priority to the underprivileged. Today the government is going up to the aspirational block and is working considering the border villages as the first villages of the country.

The Prime Minister said that for a developed India, it is necessary that every government employee helps the countrymen in realizing their dreams. There is a need to change the negative image of the system built over the past decades into a positive one. He said that no matter how good our schemes are, but if their distribution is not ensured till the last rung, then the expected results will not be available.

He said that today the system has changed due to everyone’s efforts and about Rs 3 lakh crore of the country has been saved from going into wrong hands. Today money is working for the poor and making their lives easier. He said that today’s challenge is not about skill but about lack and efforts need to be made on how to remove it.

Praising the work of civil service officers, he said that in the last 09 years, faith in good governance, speeding up India’s development and remaining the world’s fifth largest economy despite the Corona crisis, the hard work of civil service officers has contributed a lot.

He said that when administration is people and development centric, it not only gives solutions but also gives best results. It not only ensures public welfare but also ensures transparency and accountability.

Referring to the golden age of independence, the Prime Minister said that we have very little time and a lot to achieve. We have little time but immense potential, we have difficult goals but great courage, we aim to reach heights but we have the will to cross the skies.
