On February 28, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui the global security initiative and the launch of an international investigation into the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines. This was reported on the website of the Foreign Ministry.

“During the talks, various aspects of cooperation between our countries in the UN were substantively considered <…> The initiative put forward by Beijing in the field of global security was also discussed in detail. <…> and the issue of launching an international investigation into the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline as soon as possible. message Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry emphasized that the dialogue that took place confirmed the high level of coordination between Moscow and Beijing.

Leaks at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 were discovered in September 2022. The representative of the seismic center of Sweden, Bjorn Lund, said that two powerful underwater explosions were registered in the area of leaks in pipelines at the time of the emergency. Traces of explosives were found at the crash site. Russia called the incident an act of state terrorism.

In early February 2023, American journalist Seymour Hersh published an investigation into the Nord Stream explosions. It says that American divers planted bombs during the Baltops exercises in the Baltic Sea last June, and the Norwegians activated them. Washington’s motives, according to the journalist, were to force Germany to provide military and financial support to Ukraine. The US and Norway deny any involvement.

In particular, the US State Department rejected the results of the investigation of Hersh and his connection with Russia. His conclusions about sabotage on gas pipelines, the press secretary of the American department, Ned Price, called a blatant lie.

In turn, Denmark, Germany and Sweden prepared a joint statement of the permanent missions of the three countries to the UN. It states that the investigation into the terrorist attacks on gas pipelines has not been completed and the timing of its completion is still unknown.
