The United States speaks about the split among the Republicans because of assistance to Ukraine

There has been a split in the US Republican Party regarding the amount of assistance provided to Ukraine. American experts interviewed by Izvestia spoke about this, emphasizing that this issue could become one of the most acute in the primaries.

“There has long been a split in the Republican Party between the neoconservatives, who maintain a strong military presence abroad, and the isolationist wing of the party,” explained Jeremy Kuzmarov, editor-in-chief of CovertAction magazine.

So, the first block is headed by former United States Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, and the second wing approach is supported by the former head of the White House, Donald Trump. At the same time, both politicians have already announced their participation in the 2024 presidential race.

However, further support for Kyiv may become one of the most pressing issues in the primaries, the expert believes. According to him, Ukraine is now a winning political aspect, since many Americans do not support the allocation of billions of dollars.

“Among Republicans, there is a growing number of dissatisfied with the approach [президента США Джо] Biden to Ukraine, who want to slow down the growing aid to Kyiv, especially when it comes to new expensive and provocative weapons,” Peter Kuznik, professor of history at the American University in Washington, told Izvestia.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian issue may well become the cause of a real “massacre” in the internal party elections.
