Now there is no shortage of vehicles in the police stations of Bihar. Out of 576 police vehicles dedicated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday, 528 vehicles have been received by the police stations. In this way, a total of 3044 vehicles are now available with 1131 police stations working in the state. Due to the availability of sufficient vehicles to strengthen the police system, now different vehicles are being made available to the teams formed for research and law and order in each police station.

The excuse of negligence in patrol will not work

After providing the vehicle, the Bihar Police Headquarters has made it clear that now there will be no excuse for laxity in patrolling. Earlier, due to the availability of only one vehicle for research and law and order, the personnel of the police station used to make excuses for lack of vehicle. The headquarter has told that at present 613 diesel vehicles of Mahindra have been purchased. Out of these 576 available police vehicles, 528 have been allotted to police stations of different districts, 34 to different vehicles of Bihar Special Armed Police and 51 to different units of Bihar Police. Remaining 37 vehicles will also be received soon.

2010 government vehicles were already available in police stations

Police Headquarters has informed that 2010 government vehicles were already available with 1131 police stations and OPs of the state. Apart from this, 528 hired private vehicles are also being used in police stations. With the addition of 528 new vehicles, the total number of vehicles in the police stations has increased to 3044. According to the headquarters, earlier in December 2021-February 2022, 400 vehicles were procured for ERSS Dial 112. Before that in 2018-19 also, a total of 811 vehicles including 200 Sumo, 314 Bolero, 250 Gypsy and 47 Scorpio were purchased.

54 female driver constable is also driving police vehicle

Officials told that women constables are also driving the police vehicles of the police stations. For this, a total of 54 women driver constables including 29, 11 and 14 have been appointed in three times between 2016 and 2019. In Patna’s Women’s Police Station, Secretariat, Phulwarisharif, Khagaul and Masodhi Police Station, women driver constables have been given the responsibility of driving police vehicles.
