Three persons killed in three separate incidents in elephant attack

Guwahati, 03 May (HS). Three persons were killed in attacks by wild elephants in three different areas of Assam. Ajit Soura (45) died on the spot after being attacked by a wild elephant in Lengteng Amguri area under Shalna tea garden of Koliabor under Nagaon district, forest department sources said on Wednesday. This incident has been reported to be around one o’clock last midnight. According to information, a herd of wild elephants had reached the area in the middle of the night, to drive them away, Ajit Saura came out of his house. The elephant crushed him near the house.

On the other hand, a person named Sirajul Islam was killed in a wild elephant attack in Bootmari Char area under Laokhowa Char police station in Nagaon district. It has been told that the elephant of the herd of elephants that went out in search of food from Budha Chapri Sanctuary attacked Islam who was sleeping in the house, due to which he died.

In this episode, a herd of wild elephants created havoc in Ketkibari of Dwarka under Goalpara district. The herd of elephants divided into three parts and entered the village. For about 4 hours the elephants created havoc in the village. Due to this, a large number of villagers remained imprisoned inside the houses. Meanwhile, a wild elephant dragged a person out of the house by holding him with its trunk and killed him. Elephants completely damaged four houses. The deceased person has been identified as Hareshwar Rabha.

In all the three cases, the Forest Department has registered separate FIRs. Along with this, the police have taken the dead bodies in their possession and sent them to the concerned district hospitals for postmortem. The villagers are in great panic about these incidents.
