UN Secretary General Guterres visits Kyiv to discuss grain deal

March 8 – BLiTZ. UN Secretary General António Guterres arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday, March 8. The visit was confirmed by the representative of the diplomat on Twitter*, <a rel=”nofollow” href=”https://ria.ru/20230308/guterresh-1856551690.html”>writes</a> RIA News.

Guterres will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and discuss the continuation of the “Black Sea Grain Initiative” and all its aspects, as well as other topical issues, the report said.

Recall that the grain deal was signed on July 22, 2022 by Turkey, Russia and Ukraine with the assistance of the UN. It involves the unhindered export of grain from three ports of Ukraine, including Odessa. The contract expired on November 18, but was automatically extended due to the absence of objections from the parties. Automatic renewal expires March 18th.
