Untold fact about the Sino-India psychological war

According to Indian daily The Hindu, China has started withdrawing its troops from Ladakh, which the Indian media are interpreting as Beijing’s “retreat”. On the other hand, another prominent Indian newspaper The Economic Times thinks, China has a deadly military force. It said: “In the East China Sea, the patrol by a Chinese submarine last week was the first detected since 2018, when Japanese warships forced a nuclear attack submarine to surface. It follows rising tensions over Japan’s administration of the Senkaku Islands, which the Chinese call the Diaoyu Islands.

“When China views it is being challenged in these other sovereignty disputes in this era, it will respond with a very tough line,” said M. Taylor Fravel, director of the Security Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an expert on China’s military.

“China never had the ability to assert itself in the maritime domain until really in the last 10 or 15 years,” Fravel said, noting the steady buildup of China’s naval and air forces.

“He added, “That has enabled China to press its claims in the East and South China Sea more than before. ”It has also stepped up patrols in the skies over the region.

“Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., commander of the Pacific Air Forces who will soon take over as the Air Force chief of staff, said Wednesday that China had only occasionally flown missions of its H-6 bombers but was now doing so almost daily.

“Those bombers, while old, have been revamped and equipped with new missiles that China put on display at the military parade in October commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

“For all of its recent activity, China’s military remains untested. The clash with the Indians was an isolated fight with rocks and clubs, not firearms, so it was hardly a test of Chinese military preparedness. It did raise questions about training and discipline”.

Indian media are making all-out efforts in showing the very recent stone-pelting miniature war between Indian and Chinese troops as a direct threat to India’s sovereignty. On the other hand, Indians are enthusiastically flooding the social media with propaganda stating only a hand-picked number of Indian soldiers and military officers were killed while the Chinese side has succumbed maximum losses. Some of those social media warriors are trying to portray the Ladakh quarrel as “India’s initial sign of military might” and “an example of India’s emergence as a global superpower”.

To any Bangladeshi, such a quarrel between the two friendly nations is not a matter of celebration. Instead, we definitely want both countries to maintain restraint for the sake of peace in this region. But to my utter dismay, I have been watching some of the Indian media outlets in spreading intentional lies about Bangladesh and even insulting out nation by branding us as “beggars”. Being a patriotic Bangladeshi I or none of the people of this country can ever tolerate such audacity of Indian media or its people. For this reason, being aggrieved, we too have the right to expose some of the untold facts about India and the recent stone-pelting miniature war between India and China.

First of all, let me say, Bangladesh is not any “beggar” nation. Instead, we are already one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. Currently, over one million Indian nationals are working in Bangladesh (the majority of whom are staying here illegally) and every year they are draining out over ten billion dollars to India.

In Ladakh, the Sino-India miniature war has resulted in the death of a few Chinese soldiers (not even ten), while the number of deaths within the Indian side, which includes a number of mid and high-ranking officers were 143. Indian military, in comparison to the Chinese army, is extremely weak, especially in weaponry. If there is a real war between India and China, New Delhi will only witness a massive devastation.

Now, my last point. While Indian media and some of those mad Indians are trying to insult Bangladesh (for Dhaka’s growing relations with Beijing) by branding us as “beggars” is not only untrue but also is a twisting of fact. In reality, India even after suffering from a huge shock in Ladakh has asked for financial help from China and is one of the top recipients of Chinese loans and even donations for many years. For a country like India, that totally depends on China’s kindness, it is a great tragedy that they still are day-dreaming of becoming a global super-power.

As to Bangladesh, we shall maintain a friendly relationship both with China and India. But, at the present situation, for the continuing prosperity of Bangladesh, we definitely shall continue to deepen our relationship with Beijing and will not listen to any undue dictation of the big neighbor. Indian policymakers should know, days are going when they were regularly undermining and depriving Bangladesh.
