Meerut, 28 April (Hindustan Times). The spark of the first freedom struggle of 1857 had erupted from the Krantidhara of Meerut on 10th May. A campaign is going on to make the new generation aware of the untouched aspects of this revolution. Historians are providing new information by bringing school students to the sites of 1857 revolution.

Every year May 10 is celebrated as Revolution Day in Meerut. Now the army and historians have taken the initiative to tell the young generation the countless stories of the revolution against the British rule. It has been named ‘1857: A Revolution Saga’.

Historian Dr. Amit Pathak has taken the initiative to tell the story of the places which were witnesses of the first freedom struggle to the school students. He is taking school children to these places every day to pass on the legends of the revolutionaries to the new generation. How the silent message of revolution was given and to make it successful there used to be meetings of revolutionaries at Aughadnath temple.

On behalf of Dr. Amit Pathak, the situations that arose in Meerut after the Indian soldiers’ rebellion and the stories of the British being killed by the revolutionaries are being told. After opposition to the use of greased cartridges began, the East India Company ordered Indian soldiers not to pressurize their use. Indian soldiers refused to even touch greased cartridges. After this, resentment against the British kept growing among the Indian soldiers. During this campaign, information is being given about places like Victoria Park, Kesarganj, places in Meerut Cantt, Shaheed Smarak etc.
