UP civic polls: second phase polling ends, 49.33 per cent voting till 5 pm

Lucknow: Voting for the second phase of UP civic elections has ended. According to the information received from the State Election Commission, 49.33 percent votes have been cast till 5 pm. Voting started slow in the morning but as the clock ticked down, so did the pace of voting. There was a slight decrease in the turnout in the afternoon. But by the evening, people came out of their homes and the pace of voting picked up a bit.

Voting started simultaneously at 7 am in nine mandals and 38 districts of UP. In all 38 districts, 9.41 percent polling was recorded. The lowest voter turnout was 5.94 percent in Kanpur Nagar and the highest in Etah at 13.86 percent. After this, 20.62 percent polling was done till 11 o’clock, 30.80 percent till 01 o’clock, 40.80 percent till 3 o’clock in the afternoon. By 5 o’clock this percentage reached 49.33. Although the final figures of voting will be released late night.
