For years, Malaysia has become the much-sought-after destination of black-money holders from the around Asia. Hundreds of Bangladeshis are living in Malaysia by buying immigrant status under its ‘Second Home’ scheme. In the recent days, Malaysia has turned into the best attraction of radical Islamists and people with affiliation with Al Qaeda, ISIS and other militancy outfits.

Few months back, Indian national Zakir Naik fled to Malaysia via Saudi Arabia and has reportedly been sheltered by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, as because, the Malaysian premier also is notoriously anti-Semitic and sympathetic to radical Islamic militancy outfits. Dr. Mahathir is anti-West too.

Now Malaysia has sheltered another notorious individual from Bangladesh. Mahmudur Rahman, a man facing numerous criminal charges at home secretly left Bangladesh under the excuse of medical checkups. But he actually went to Malaysia, where he has invested huge sum of money in various business projects. According to security agency sources, sitting in Malaysia, Mahmudur has been coordinating series of terror attacks in India and Bangladesh through United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) terrorists. He also is keeping communication with Pakistan-based militancy groups, including Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

On December 31, Mahmudur Rahman met Abdul Qaiyyum Batt, a handler of Pakistani spy agency ISI at a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Prior to this meeting, there had been several long-distance phone calls between Mahmudur Rahman and Bangladesh’s former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha. Mahmudur offered Sinha the required “technical support” for preparing series of Sinha’s “speeches” describing the “misrule” of the ruling party in Bangladesh. At the same time, Mahmudur Rahman was contacted by a number of Bangladeshi journalists now living in the United States.

According to media reports, recently Mahmudur has prepared a 15-minute “speech” addressing the people of Bangladesh. This “speech” contains instigative and seditious remarks on the founding father of the country. He also has tried to instigate the younger generation in Bangladesh in waging war against the democratically elected government in Bangladesh with the aim of replacing democracy by Caliphate or Sharia rule.

A source in Bangladeshi press community seeking anonymity said, the content of this Al Qaeda-patterned “speech” was penned by a journalist of Amar Desh newspaper. This journalist also is national-award winning poet, hailing from the northern part of the country.

Commenting on Mahmudur being sheltered in Malaysia, a diplomatic source said, they are aware of his connections with Pakistani ISI and Jamaat-e-Islami. The source expressed surprise at people like Mahmudur Rahman being allowed to continue anti-Bangladesh and terrorist activities from Malaysia.
