Zakharova points to the US ignoring Hersh investigation on Nord Stream

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, pointed out that the US authorities ignored the investigation of the American journalist Seymour Hersh on undermining the Nord Stream, despite his high qualifications, which the Americans themselves had previously recognized. She stated this on March 8 on the YouTube channel “Let me tell!”.

As Zakharova noted, Hersh is an American journalist who has no ties to Russia. For decades he has dealt with international issues and American domestic issues.

“This is not an upstart, this is not a person who made his name through hype. This is an investigator in the truest sense of the word, ”Zakharova pointed out.

She also recalled that Hersh is the owner of the Pulitzer Prize, which is a very serious award for journalists in the United States and testifies to his high qualifications.

At the same time, Zakharova noted that Hersh’s investigation was based on selected facts and conclusions drawn on their basis, and not on his personal assessments.

“And what do we see on the other side? Ignore. This is an attempt at marginalization. An attempt to prove that this person has no idea about the agenda at all, that his investigation is just a compilation of some materials, that nothing happened at all, even at the level of refusing to answer questions on these articles, ”the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

On February 8, Hersh published an investigation into sabotage on Russian gas pipelines. It says that US divers planted bombs during the Baltops exercises in the Baltic Sea last June, and the Norwegians activated the explosives. Washington’s motives, according to the journalist, were to force Germany to provide military and financial support to Ukraine.

On February 15, he accused the US authorities and media of hushing up the story of Washington’s involvement in the sabotage at Nord Stream. On his page on the Substack platform, Hersh recalled his work at The New York Times, where he prepared investigative journalism, and his materials fell on the front pages. Now, according to him, there was not a single line in the publication about his investigation into the explosions at Nord Stream.

That same month, Hersh said that Biden’s decision to blow up the gas pipelines was purely political. In his opinion, the goal was to prevent Germany and Western Europe from opening the pipeline in the event of an early onset of cold weather.

On March 7, Hersh announced a new Nord Stream investigation that he said would be published next week. At the same time, Izvestia asked Hersh to comment on the publication of The New York Times (NYT) that, according to new US intelligence, some pro-Ukrainian group could be behind the explosions.

Answering a question, he noted that he learned about the NYT material from Izvestia journalists. The Americans’ attempt to blame Kyiv made Hersh first surprised and then laughed.

Leaks at Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 were discovered in September 2022. The representative of the seismic center of Sweden, Bjorn Lund, said that two powerful underwater explosions were registered in the area of leaks in pipelines at the time of the emergency. Traces of explosives were found at the crash site. The Russian Federation called the incident an act of state terrorism.
