The ’Palestinian’ refugee crisis was a successfully implemented, political strategy created by the Arab political elite and facilitated by the United Nations after the armies of five Arab nations failed to eliminate the Jewish State of Israel during their 1948 offensive. Since then the UN, Arab nations and their sycophantic allies have willingly maintained the plight of the refugees when resolution could and should have been achieved as has happened with numerous other geopolitical events concerning refugees. Unfortunately, hatred towards the Jewish State ensured that moral indecency took precedence and resolution of the situation was never on the agenda nor an objective of the Arab nations. Palestinians have served as the pawns and useful idiots of the Arab Nations and the UN.
Moreover, the ever-increasing financial wealth, media and political profiles of both past and current Palestinian leaders have ensured that this situation remains unaltered supported too by the rabidly racist, Palestinian Charters seeking nothing other than the elimination of the Jewish State of Israel.
Mental indoctrination of three generations of Palestinian children, educated to hate the Jewish people and the Jewish State of Israel has formed the bedrock of the Palestinian education system, funded by the United Nations.
This has been achieved by the Palestinian leadership eternally promoting the Jew hating manifestos that are the Palestinian Charters of 1964 (updated1968) and the Palestinian Hamas Charter of 1988.
A mid 1970’s semi-official UK Government Report – The Double Exodus (by Terence Prittie, Bernard Dineen and Philip Goodhart MP), A Study of Arab and Jewish Refugees In The Middle East, exposed the reality of the politics and the strategy of the Arab leaders.
” … the Arab Governments regarded the destruction of the State of Israel as a more pressing matter than the welfare of the Palestinian refugee.
Palestinian bitterness and anger had to be kept alive. It was clear that this could best be done by ensuring that the Palestinians lived under sub – normal conditions, the victims of hunger and poverty. No Arab Government preached this as a defined policy – most Arab Governments put it into practice.”
That policy could only be successful with a parallel hate filled education system and the report went on to state – ”Unfortunately Palestinian children have also been systematically taught in their schools to hate Israel and its people ; UNWRA officials have reluctantly admitted that there is much virulent anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish propaganda in their school text books .
Five to six-year-old have been taught in their drawing classes to depict Israelis as monsters of cruelty and ugliness. UNWRA has been powerless to prevent such perverse political indoctrination of the very young which will undoubtedly make a powerful contribution to their state of minds.”
The Palestinians hated the Jews more than they loved their children.
If one looks hard enough for the truth then the lies and propaganda perpetrated by the liars and propagandists will be exposed.
This post is evidence of such.
When the subject of Arab refugees was discussed in the UN Security Council on March 4th 1949 many delegates including the Soviet spokesman had no doubt that it was the invasion of the Jewish State by five neighboring Arab countries that caused the problem.
” Statements have been made on the Arab refugee question, but why should the State of Israel be blamed for the existence of that problem? When seeking to determine responsibility for the existence of the problem of the Arab refugees , we cannot fail to mention the outside forces….They pursue their own selfish interests which have nothing in common either with the cause of peace and international security or with the interests of the Arab and Jewish peoples , and which only correspond to the aggressive designs of the leading circles of some States.”
Let’s review a few of the written statements made by Arab politicians and editorials in Arab newspapers immediately following the exodus of Arab immigrant workers we now call Palestinians, from the landmass now forming the State of Israel. I use the phrase Arab immigrant workers with good reason as the vast majority of Arab Palestinians were indeed just that. The economic benefits of Zionism persuaded thousands of workers to leave their countries and come to Palestine to increase their living standards.
There is evidence in abundance to prove this.
British Consul, James Finn June 2nd 1860 in his ‘ Relating to the Disturbances in Syria’ report.
”I learn of the arrival of six thousand of the Beni Sukhr Arabs at Tiberias who are very seldom seen this side of the Jordan.”
Encyclopedia Brittanica 1911 edition.
There are very large contingents from the Mediterranean countries especially Armenia, Greece and Italy. Turkomen settlers, a fairly large Afghan colony, Motawila (Pakistan), immigrants from Persia, tribes of Kurds, a Bosnian colony, Circassian settlements, a large Algerian element, Sudanese.”
Winston Churchill, 1922 in his book A Peace To End All Peace:
”The Arabs would have sat in the dark forever had not the Zionist engineers harnessed the Jordan river for electrification. Now they swarm into Palestine seeking the light.”
Jacob De Haas, History of Palestine, The Last Two Thousand Years, 1934
” In 1860, entire Algerian tribes immigrated en masse to Safed. The Muslims of Safed are descended from these Moorish settlers and from Kurds that came earlier to the city.”
Tewlik Bey El Houran the Governor of Hauran Province in Southwest Syria, stated in an interview with La Syne, a French Syrian paper on August 12th 1934 …
”….in the last few months as many as thirty-six thousand Hourani Syrians had entered and settled in Palestine.”
Palestine Royal Commission Report, London 1937.
”This illegal Arab immigration was not only going on from the Sinai, but also from Trans Jordan and Syria and it is very difficult to make a case for the misery of the Arabs if at the same time their compatriots from adjoining States could not be kept from going in to share that misery.”
Winston Churchill, to the House of Commons, May 23rd 1939
”So far from being persecuted the Arabs have crowded into the country and multiplied until their population has increased more than all world Jewry could lift up the Jewish population.”
Ernst Frankenstein, Justice For My People, 1943.
”Ibrahim Pasha the 1831 Egyptian conqueror of Palestine left behind him permanent colonies of Egyptians at Besian, Nablus, Irbid, Acre and Jaffa. Into Jaffa alone thousands have been imported.”
James William Parkes, History of the Peoples of Palestine, 1970
”There are villages populated wholly by settlers from other portions of the Turkish Empire in the 19th century. There are villages of Bosnians, Circassians, and Egyptians.”
Propaganda has successfully created the false narrative, believed by millions that the majority of Arab Palestinians were indigenous – they were certainly not as my previous articles have proved. Scores of travelers who wrote of their journeys over the centuries never mentioned the presence of an indigenous people known as Palestinians as we know them today. Most of the Arabs in the area were itinerant Bedouin. Agricultural production could not be annually maintained as the soil was so infertile – either malaria infected marshes or desert. It was indeed Zionism, technology and capital input combined with educated labor and technically advanced equipment that made the area flourish agriculturally.
Thousands of Arabs, mostly undocumented, immigrated to Palestine during the early nineteenth century to improve their economic wellbeing directly as a consequence of Zionism. New capital, rapidly developing infrastructure, improved farming techniques , construction and development , banking and finance and cleaner water through better purification and irrigation all combined to attract Arab immigrant labor as has been documented in detail. These facts too have been ignored by those spewing the false narrative.
As an aside it is ironic is it not that the main Jewish newspaper was called The Palestine Post; the main Jewish Bank was called the Anglo Palestine Bank; the major Jewish wine company was called the Palestine Wine Company and the Jewish orchestra was called the Palestine Symphony. Why on earth would Jews name their companies and organizations after an Arab country? Even more of a paradox is that the sound for the letter ‘P ‘ does not exist in Arabic so why would Arabs call themselves by a pronoun they cannot pronounce. Moreover, the pronunciation for Palestine is supposedly Filastin.
But Filastin is the Arab pronunciation for Philistine, a people that became extinct in the ninth century BC and who originated from the Greek Islands. Why would the Palestinians call themselves after extinct Greek seafaring invaders or the modern meaning of Philistines, uncouth, uncultured heathens?
So having populated Palestine with immigrants from surrounding Arab countries, the Arabs decided to ethnically cleanse the Jews by invading with five armies from Arab countries . They failed and the ‘ Palestinian ‘ refugee problem was created.
What did the Arab political classes and various Arab journals comment on this?
Emile Ghoury, Secretary of the Palestinian Arab Higher Committee in an interview with the Beirut Telegraph, September 6th 1948:
”The Arab States which had encouraged the Arabs of Palestine to leave their homes temporarily in order to be out of the way of the ARAB INVASION ARMIES (capitals intended), have failed to keep their promise to help these people.”
The Jordanian daily newspaper Falastin, February 19th 1949:
”Who brought the Arabs to Lebanon as refugees, suffering now from the malign attitude of newspapers and communal leaders, who have neither honor nor conscience? Who brought them over in dire straits and penniless after they lost their honor? The Arab States and Lebanon amongst them did it.”
The Beirut Muslim weekly Kul – Shay, August 19th 1951:
”The 15th May 1948 arrived. On that day the Mufti of Jerusalem commanded to the Arabs of Palestine to leave the country because the Arab armies were about to enter and fight in their stead.”
The Cairo daily Akhbar el Yom, October 12th 1953:
”For the flight and fall of the other villages it is our leaders who are responsible because of their dissemination of rumors exaggerating the Jewish crimes and describing them as atrocities in order to inflame the Arabs. By spreading rumors of Jewish atrocities, killings of women and children etc. they instilled fear and terror in the hearts of the Arabs in Palestine until they fled leaving their homes and properties to the enemy. ”
The Jordanian daily newspaper Al Urdun, April 9th 1953:
” I could go on and on with this forgotten or deliberately obscured history. But you get the point. There was no Jewish conspiracy to chase Arabs out of their homes in 1948. It never happened. There are, instead plenty of historical records showing the Jews pleading with their Arab neighbors to stay and live in peace and harmony. Yet despite the clear, unambiguous words of the Arab observers at the time, history has been successfully rewritten to turn the Jews into the bad guys.”
Even though Jewish communities were being attacked by Arab terrorists from neighboring Arab countries lead by Fawzi al Kaukji, the Jewish leadership pleaded with their Arab neighbors to stay and not listen to the threats of their leaders to leave.
The Jewish organization, the Workers Council of Haifa issued and published the following statement in April 1948.
”For years we have lived together in our City of Haifa in security and in mutual understanding and brotherhood. Thanks to this, our City flourished and developed for the good of both Jewish and Arab residents; thus did Haifa serve as an example to the other Cities of Palestine. Do not destroy your homes with your own hands and do not bring tragedy upon yourselves by unnecessary evacuation and self-imposed burdens. By moving out you will be overtaken by poverty and humiliation. But in this City, yours and ours, Haifa, the gates are open for work, for life and for peace, for you and your families”.
The Jewish Mayor of Haifa, Shabetai Levi, implored the Arab population not to leave and guaranteed their safety but to no avail.
In a memorandum of the Arab National Committee in Haifa to the Arab League, dated April 27th 1948 the response to Shabetai was as follows.
” The signing of a truce would be a disgrace to the Arab population …and we proudly refused to sign and asked to be evacuated and transfer to neighboring Arab countries be facilitated. The British military and civil authorities and the Jewish representatives expressed their profound regret at this grave decision. The Jewish Mayor adjourned the meeting with a passionate appeal to the Arab population to reconsider the decision.”
The attempts by the Jewish leaders to stop the Arab population from fleeing was noted in a report by the British Superintendent of Police A.J. Bidmead on April 26th 1948.
”There is no change in the situation in Haifa. The Jews are still making every effort to persuade the Arab populace to remain and settle back into their normal lives in the town.”
A report filed by a special correspondent of the Economist (as reported in the British Government report) stated…” that the Jewish authorities urged all Arabs to remain under guarantee of protection.”
Statements by leading Arab politicians charged with maintaining the refugee problem clearly expose any lack of intent to resolve the situation peacefully but only attempt to annihilate the Jewish State.
Dr Mohammed Salah ed Din, Egyptian Foreign Minister, October 11th 1949:
”In demanding the restoration of the refugees to Palestine, the Arabs intend that they should return as masters not slaves. More explicitly they intend to annihilate the State of Israel.”
Resolution adopted by the Conference of Arab Refugees, at Homs in Syria, July 11/12th 1957.
” Any discussion aimed at a solution of the Palestine problem which will not be based on ensuring the refugees right to annihilate Israel will be regarded as a desecration of the Arab people and an act of treason.”
President Nasser of Egypt in an interview with the Swiss journal, Neue Zuercher Zeitung, September 1st 1960: ”When the refugees return to Israel, Israel will cease to exist.”
Statements from Arab politicians and organizations admitted that responsibility for the situation was that of the Arab leadership.
On April 3rd 1949 the Near East Broadcasting Station in Cyprus broadcast the following ..
” It must not be forgotten that the Arab Higher Committee encouraged the refugees flight from their homes in Jaffa, Haifa and Jerusalem.”
King Hussein of Jordan in January 1960 said to an Associated Press correspondent, ” Since 1948 Arab leaders have approached the Palestine issue in an irresponsible manner. They have not looked into the future. They have no plan nor approach. They have used the people for selfish political purposes. This is not only ridiculous but criminal.”
The statements above made by Arab leaders are just some of numerous similar statements verifying beyond doubt that Arab politics and detestation of the Jewish State took precedence over the wellbeing of the Arab Palestinians.
The Syrian Prime Minister of 1948/9 Haled al Azm in his ”Memoirs of Haled al Azm, 1973 admitted the Arab leadership’s role in persuading the Arabs to leave – ”Since 1948 we have been demanding the return of the refugees to their homes. But we ourselves are the ones who encouraged them to leave.”
The Secretary of the Arab League, Edward Atiyah in his 1955 book The Arabs, penned: ”The wholesale exodus was due to the belief of the Arabs encouraged by the boastings of an unrealistic Arab press and the irresponsible utterances of Arab leaders that it could be only a matter of weeks before the Jews were defeated by the armies of the of the Arab States…”
And it was not only Arab politicians and journalists who recognized the nauseating, moral indecency of the Arab leadership. Ralph Galloway, former head of UNWRA in August 1958 wrote: ”The Arab States do not want to solve the refugee problem. They want to keep it as an open sore, as an affront to the United Nations and as a weapon against Israel. Arab leaders don’t give a damn whether the refugees live or die.”
It is worthy of note that up until 1964, the year of the first Palestinian Charter, the idea of a Palestinian national identity separates to an Arab identity had not been formulated. Palestinian nationalism is a very recent construct created by the Soviet Union (which had decided to counter US Middle East expansionism by opposing US regional allies and funding anti-Western terrorist groups) by supporting the Egyptian terrorist, Yasser Arafat.
Yes you read correctly, Arafat was not Palestinian but Egyptian. He referred to himself as a Palestinian refugee but spoke Arabic with an Egyptian accent. He was born in Cairo, studied at the University of Cairo, lived in Cairo and served in the Egyptian army. His real name was Mohammed Abdel Rahman Abdel Raouf Arafat al – Qudwa al- Husseini. The name itself is from what is now Saudi Arabia and the family settled in Egypt. As Arafat himself wrote in his revealing autobiography.
”If there is any such thing as a Palestinian people, it is I, Yasser Arafat who created them.”
Abdullah al -Yafi, Prime Minister of Lebanon in the journal Al-Hayat , April 29th 1966: ”The day for the realization of the Arab hope for the return of the refugees to Palestine means the liquidation of Israel”.
In 1967 the Arab League at the Khartoum Conference determined that there should be ” No negotiations with Israel, no recognition of Israel, and no peace treaty with Israel.”
Clearly these aspects of the Arab – Israel conflict have been purposely ignored by Israel’s enemies and not given exposure by Israel’s supporters. The former I understand, the latter remains a mystery. There was an absolute intensity over the airwaves by Arab leaders leading up to the Arab invasion of 1948 commanding the Arab population to leave Jewish areas or be treated like traitors after the expectation that the Arab armies had driven the Jews into the sea. Simultaneously there was a parallel intensity from the Jewish leadership pleading with that same population to remain.
The Economist, at the time an anti-Zionist journal, reported on October 2nd 1948: ”…there is but little doubt that the most potent of the factors were the announcements over the air by the Higher Arab Executive, urging the Arabs to quit. It was clearly intimated that those Arabs who remained …would be regarded as renegades.”
How has history been revised to determine that the Jews ethnically cleansed the Arab population of Palestine?
The Double Exodus Report noted that in terms of numbers the Arab refugees from Palestine ranked in thirteenth position of refugees’ movements between 1948 and 1970.
India, Pakistan, Germany, Korea, Nigeria, Vietnam, Jews from Arab countries etc. all experienced through warfare higher refugee numbers. The report noted that the Arab Palestinian refugee issue was notably different in that all the other countries had through moral decency, pragmatism and political necessity integrated their refugees. The Arab countries had purposely refused to integrate the Palestinian Arabs even though the vast majority originated from those very same Arab countries now denying them safe passage.
The report also noted that Jews ethnically cleansed from Arab countries, successfully integrated within the fledgling Jewish State was at least twice the number of Arabs being refused entry into Arab countries who were being left as political pawns and extremely useful idiots by their Arab leaders. To this very day this remains so although as Israel’s relationships with Sunni Arab nations are on an unstoppable, upward trajectory the Palestinian cause is now in the hands of the extremist Shia block – Hezbollah, Iran and the duplicitous Hamas.
How can a multiracial democracy like Israel ever hope to achieve peace with neighbors who teach their children to hate during thrice daily repetition and learning of Charters, shown below which replicate the manifestos of 1930’s Nazi Germany?
The above synopsis provides sufficient evidence to verify that the overwhelming majority of today’s Palestinians are not indigenous to the landmass they claim but are descendants of Arabs who populated the area to improve their living standards brought about by Zionism.
Moreover, there is sufficient evidence to prove that the Palestinian refugee issue was created and maintained by an Arab leadership intent on Jew extermination and having failed in that objective used the Arab immigrants, or Palestinians, as useful idiots in a political strategy, still ongoing to claim more land.
In previous posts I have debunked both the religious and legal claims of the Palestinians to the land they wish to occupy. All this is still insufficient for Israel’s enemies, the political left, the far right, anti-Semites and the anti-Zionists. They have no need no reason to educate themselves on the facts as age old Jew hatred takes precedence.
Let’s end with another bit of false narrative that has morphed into fact. According to any Palestinian output, duplicated over and over again by Palestinian supporters there are currently 7.2 million Palestinian refugees.
The pamphlet ‘ FAQ’s Abut Palestinian Refugees ‘ by the Al -Awda organization is the first document that appears if one googles this subject. The same source also indicates that there were originally 737,166 Palestinians as a result of ethnic cleansing and elimination. These statements can be found on Pages 1 and 2 of the documents. To a casual reader and not a disciplined researcher these numbers appear shocking. Not only are they lies but they are impossible by any standards of human reproduction, even without the absurd contention of ethnic elimination. Let me explain.
The propaganda leaflet I refer to mathematically claims that the Palestinian refugee population has multiplied by a factor of nearly 10 during a seventy-year period starting in 1948. One assumes that had ‘ethnic elimination ‘ not been a factor the multiple would have been a factor of ten plus, twelve to fifteen times perhaps.
On the same basis, and without any ethnic cleansing, let’s review what the populations of other areas would be if the inhabitants were as abundantly reproductive as the Palestinians during the last seventy years.
New York city census in 1950 was 7.9 million so if Palestinians had inhabited NY it would now have a population of nearly eighty million people. The population is currently 8.42 million.
The population of the United Kingdom in 1948 was 49.4 million but if inhabited by Palestinians would be nearly 500 million. The current population is 66.5 million.
Let’s calculate an Arab country …Morocco in 1950 had a population of nine million and had the Moroccans’ behaved like the Palestinians their population would not be the current 37 million but ninety million.
The Palestinians in terms of human reproduction are certainly the masters of this particular craft and all this having been ethnically eliminated. One can only speculate how many Palestinians there would currently be had such an event not occurred.
No matter the truth, the anti-Jewish mob will never see it but only use the lies and propaganda of those with a similar ideology to spread their antisemitism. Let’s also be clear by supporting the Palestinian cause and their objectives as identified in their Charters pro Palestinianism is de facto antisemitism.
