Death of a constitutional republic

Anyone can argue. But the plain fact is – America’s democracy and its pride being a constitutional republic is dead. According to media reports, Democrats, who long have chafed under the stipulations of the Constitution that make the United States a constitutional republic rather than a democracy, have introduced a House resolution to abolish the Electoral College and exchange it with a national popular vote for president and vice president.

While Democrats now have the majority in the House and Senate as well as the White House, the measure is not likely to succeed because a constitutional amendment must be ratified by two-thirds of the states.

The Electoral College was established as a compromise between those who wanted the president elected by a vote in Congress and those who sought a direct vote.

According to Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn), the Electoral College now is an “anachronism,” and the Constitution already has been changed, for example, to allow citizens of all races and women to vote.

Democrats are now saying, Americans expect and deserve the winner of the popular vote to win office. The president should always be elected by the people, not the politicians, and the Electoral College allows politicians to make the ultimate decision.

As Democrats now control the Senate, House and White House, it is highly anticipated that the resolution passed by the House shall ultimately get cleared by the Senate and the upcoming president – meaning, there will be an end to the decade-old practice of American democracy before the next presidential election. And once the new law gets passed, it will be important for the Democrats to ensure winning in the popular vote – meaning, they will allow a massive flow of immigrants from around the world. This floodgate of immigrants will help in increasing the volume of vote banks – which may ultimately end the prospect for Grand Old Party in returning to the White House – indefinitely.

While America’s political fate and its very democracy is in jeopardy people are questioning as to why society should tolerate “cheeky boys” with massive flair for totalitarianism – such as Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg to emerge as the master of the free world.

They say: “Why should young, unelected billionaires be allowed to quench democratic processes by censoring free speech and plurality of opinions? Why allow the inquisitionists to continue their Stalinist spree against political views that differ from their own? For example, that of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who arguably openly demonstrates that he is against diversity of opinion”.

There are people who are also asking, “Who elected Soviet style Zuckerberg to rule us [Americans] all with brute force in his Medieval Age strategy to play the feudal lord, deciding who is allowed to speak and who is not?”

The banning of President Trump from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit is the best demonstration yet of the brazen totalitarian push by many of media experts.

As late as November 2020, the Big Tech companies faced lawsuits attempting to break up the massive monopolies on “communications infrastructure”. Banning the president may be viewed as retaliation.

The social media giants are now facing a backlash from world leaders and shocked individuals alike. The leaders of Germany, France, the EU, Mexico and others reacted with horror at the totalitarian push. Not to mention that the United States looks like a complete banana republic to the rest of the world for allowing this to continue. The “greatest country in the world”? Hardly anymore.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel sharply criticized Twitter’s decision to ban Trump, deeming it “problematic” and stating that “the right to freedom of opinion is of elementary significance; this fundamental right can be intervened in, but according to the law and within the framework defined by legislators – not according to a decision by the management of social media platforms.” Mexican President Andrés Obrador labeled the development as a Holy Inquisition.

For the time being, it seems that American democracy and the tradition of free speech in already booted by the Big Tech’s and their patrons within the Democratic Party as well as anti-America socialists and Islamists. More precisely, such actions only have benefited the enemies of America. It is clearly the death of a constitutional republic.
