IAEA team barred from inspecting Iran’s nuclear sites

Until now inspection team from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) were not allowed to physically visit the nuclear sites in Iran. They even were even barred from watching camera footages, which had been out of order for months. Now Iranian regime has reportedly agreed to allow international inspectors to install new memory cards in the surveillance cameras that monitor Iran’s nuclear sites. But the problem here is – Iranian regime is unwilling to let the international inspectors even watch its nuclear site through close-circuit cameras.

The director-general of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, flew to Tehran this weekend to discuss the situation with the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization.

“We had a major, major communication breakdown with Iran, which, of course, is something we cannot afford, having so many important issues that we need to solve,” Grossi told reporters after he returned, the according to the Associated Press. “And I think that was solved”.

The surveillance footage will continue to be kept under seal inside Tehran, where inspectors don’t currently have access to it. But in case a broader agreement to restore the 2015 nuclear deal is ever reached, this weekend’s agreement would ensure “continuity of knowledge”, Grossi said. Broken and damaged cameras would also be replaced, he added.

Experts say, except that Iran is actually in control of the equipment. And in control of the facility. It’s absurdly easy to fool cameras.

“This latest ‘save’ by the IAEA appears to keep the Ponzi-scheme going from February that the IAEA will have access to monitoring equipment. Whereas in reality Iran could resurrect this crisis in a few months’ time by threatening to delete monitoring tapes and other data if not offered sanctions relief”.

Meanwhile, according to IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi, the Israel Defense Forces is working full tilt to develop its plans to strike Iran’s nuclear program in light of the Islamic Republic’s ongoing march toward the technology needed for an atomic weapon, and the stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran on the matter.

“The progress in the Iranian nuclear program has led the IDF to speed up its operational plans, and the defense budget that was recently approved is meant to address this”, Kohavi said, speaking to military correspondents ahead of the Jewish New Year.

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz in a statement said, “the State of Israel has the means to act and will not hesitate to do so. I do not rule out the possibility that Israel will have to take action in the future in order to prevent a nuclear Iran”.

“Iran is only two months away from acquiring the materials necessary for a nuclear weapon. We do not know if the Iranian regime will be willing to sign an agreement and come back to the negotiation table and the international community must build a viable ‘Plan B’ in order to stop Iran in its tracks towards a nuclear weapon”, he added.

In my opinion, while international community, especially the State of Israel moves to ‘Plan B’ on Iran, everyone needs to focus on taking effective steps in giving encouragement and voice to the pro-democracy Iranians and help them in toppling-down the mullah regime. As Iranian regime already is suffering incredibly due to ever-increasing economic crisis, there also should be newer economic sanctions on the regime and several key individuals. At the same time, Ali Khamenei, Ebrahim Raisi and their cohorts should face criminal actions for series of cruelties and murders, including the 1988-massacre.

Iranians want democracy. They are fighting against the cruel mullah regime. It is time for the international community and the media to extend fullest support to the freedom-loving Iranians. Fall of the cruel regime is the utmost necessity.
