No land was stolen from the Arabs by the Zionists

On a separate but still relevant issue, the Arab leaders who testified to the 1937 Peel Commission stated categorically that no land was stolen from the Arabs by the Zionists – it was all paid for by legal contracts. Statelands and Wastelands had been set aside for Jewish population and were in the legal control of the colonial powers after WW1. We revisit this aspect in the essay on the false legal claims of the Palestinians. The statements by the Grand Mufti and others to Sir Laurie Hammond and his commissioners categorically verify that the Zionists stole no land.

The journals of the itinerant scribes’ evidence descriptions of the area.

Adrian Reland wrote about the non-existence of Arab place names; the Muslims having deserted the area. Indeed, they immigrated into the area during the beginnings of the Zionist relocation in the late 19th century purely leveraging up on the economic benefits Zionism brought.  Tewlik Bey El Houran, Governor of Houran Province, Southwest Syria, complained in a Syrian French newspaper La Syne, August 12th 1934, that 30,000 to 36,000 Syrians had entered and settled to work in Palestine and his crops in Syria were left unattended.  Remarkably that would account for around ten per cent of the so called ‘Palestinians’ Israel is wrongfully accused of ’ethnically cleansing from their indigenous homelands’.

If we review a selection of the written accounts of those referred to above, we obtain a comprehensive understanding of the geography and the inhabitants.

Gunner Edward Webbe 1590 wrote.

“Nothing there is to be seen in Jerusalem but a little of the old walls which is yet remaining and all the rest is grass, moss and weeds much like to a piece of rank or moist ground”.

Thomas Shaw, British archaeologist, 1750.

“The land is lacking in people to till its fertile soil”.

Count Constantine Francois Volney, 18th century French historian.

“It is a ruined and desolate land”.

Gustav Flaubert 1850

“Found ruins everywhere”.

James Finn, British Consul 1857

“The country is in a considerable degree empty of inhabitants and therefore its greatest need is of a body of population”.

Christian travelers to the area in the mid 1800’s wrote that Arabs

“Cannot be considered but temporary residents. They pitched their tents in its grazing fields or built their places of refuge in its ruined cities. They created nothing in it since they were strangers to the land – the desert wind brought them hither”.

William Thackeray in his 1844 essay From Jaffa to Jerusalem similarly described the area as had described all of the above.

Cooks Tourist Handbook for Palestine and Syria 1876

“Above all other countries in the world Palestine is now a land of ruins. In Judea it is hardly an exaggeration to say that for miles and miles there is no appearance of present life or habitation’’.

Mark Twain (Samuel Clemence) in The Innocents Abroad 1867, wrote thus.

“There is not a solitary village throughout its whole extent (valley of Jezreel, Galilee), not for 30 miles in either direction. One may ride 10 miles hereabouts and not see ten human beings. For the sort of solitude to make one dreary come to Galilee, Nazareth is forlorn, Jericho lies a moldering ruin. Bethlehem and Bethany in their poverty and humiliation untenanted by any living creature. A desolate country whose soil is rich enough but is given over wholly to weeds, a silent, mournful expanse – a desolation. We never saw a human being on the whole route. Hardly a tree or shrub anywhere. Even the olive tree and the cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil had almost deserted the country which sits in sackcloth and  ashes… desolate and unlovely”.

This description by Twain, and the photos of the early 20th century photographer Leo Kahn prove beyond doubt, not that any further proof is necessary, that the so called ‘Palestinians’ or ‘Filastinians’ had never inhabited the area as they currently claim.

Winston Churchill in many statements and writings recognized the indisputable facts that the Arabs who now call themselves Palestinians were the colonizers and immigrants to the geography leveraging off the benefits brought about by Zionism.

In 1920 he stated.

“It is manifestly right that scattered Jews should have a national home and be reunited and where else but Palestine with which for 3000 years they have been intimately and profoundly associated”.

In his 1922 A Peace To End All Peace he wrote.

“The Arabs would have sat in the dark forever had not the Zionist engineers harnessed the Jordan river for electrification. Now they swarm into Palestine in seeking the light”.

In the House of Commons, May 1939 he stated

“So far from being persecuted the Arabs have crowded into Palestine and multiplied until their population has increased more than even all world Jewry”.

Churchill in all his writings and speeches on the Arab, Jewish subject never once referred to a Palestinian people whose land had been stolen or colonized. Indeed, he recognized the influx of Arab immigrants into the geography legally set aside for a Jewish homeland.

Further exposure of the Palestinian myth as a people, nation, race or culture comes from the mouths of those who morphed into Palestinians and from many Arab religious leaders, politicians, terrorists and scholars. Note too that within the Qur’an there is not one mention of either the name places Jerusalem nor Palestine although modern revisionist translations have successfully included them.  From an Islamic, religious perspective the area known as Palestine is bequeathed, bestowed and promised to the Jewish people in numerous Suras within the Qur’an and therefore it is Islamophobic, is it not to support Palestinian claims to the area? The false narrative regarding the Palestinian religious claims is tackled later.

However, it is worth noting a few statements by Arab leaders including Palestinian terrorists, all of whom mock the Palestinian claims to any land.

Yusef Diya al – Khalidi, Arab Mayor of Jerusalem ,1899

“Who can challenge the rights of the Jews in Palestine? Good Lord historically it is really your country”.

King Faysal of Iraq and Syria, 1885-1933 stated

“The Arabs, particularly the educated ones among them, must look at the Zionist movement with deepest sympathy”.

Auni Bey Abdul – Hadi, Syrian Arab leader to the Peel Commission, 1937

“There is no such country as Palestine. Palestine is a term the Zionists invented. There is no Palestine in the Qur’an. Palestine is alien to us; it was the Zionists who introduced it”.

Walid Shoebat former PLO terrorist:

“Why is it that on June 4th 1967 I was a Jordanian and overnight I became a Palestinian?

“We were Jordanian until the Jews returned to Jerusalem then all of a sudden, we were Palestinian. When I finally realized the lies and myths I was taught, it is my duty as a righteous man to speak out”.

Joseph Farah, Arab writer, journalist and historian in his 1967 essay Myths of the Middle East:

“There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians, indistinguishable from Jordanians another recent invention. Syrians, Iraqis etc. Keep in mind that Arabs control 99.9 percent of the Middle East and Israel one tenth of one per cent – but that’s too much for the Arabs. They want it all. And ultimately that is what the fighting with Israel is today …no matter how many land concessions the Israelis make, it will never be enough”.

Zuhair Mushin, military commander of the Palestine Liberation Organization and member of the PLO Executive Council, March 31st 1977 interview with Dutch daily Trouw:

“It is only for political reasons that we carefully underline the Palestinian identity yes the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The creation of a Palestinian State is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel”.

Sheikh Ahmad Adwan, Islamic leader, 2012

“From where did you bring the name Palestine you liars when Allah has already named it ‘The Holy Land’ and bequeathed it to the Children of Israel. There is no such thing as Palestine in the Koran”.

On a separate but still relevant issue, the Arab leaders who testified to the 1937 Peel Commission stated categorically that no land was stolen from the Arabs by the Zionists – it was all paid for by legal contracts. We revisit this aspect in the essay on the false legal claims of the Palestinians. Let’s see what some other prominent Arab politicians, academics and journals have stated.

Professor Philip Hitti, Arab professor and historian 1946:

“There is no such thing as Palestinians in history, absolutely not”.

Emile Ghoury, Secretary of the Arab Higher Committee interviewed in the Beirut Telegraph, September 6th 1948:

“The Arab countries which had encouraged those Arabs living in Palestine to leave their homes temporarily in order to be out of the way of the Arab invasion armies, have failed to keep their promises to help these people”.

The Jordanian daily newspaper, Falastin editorial, February 19th 1949:

“Who brought the Arabs to Lebanon as refugees, suffering now from the malign attitude of newspapers and communal leaders, who have neither honor nor conscience? Who brought them over in dire straits and penniless after they Lost their honor? The Arab states and Lebanon amongst them did it”.

The Beirut Muslim weekly Kul-Shay, August 19th 1951:

“The 15th May 1948 arrived. On that day the Mufti of Jerusalem demanded to the Arabs of Palestine to leave the country because the Arab armies were about to enter and fight”.

The Jordanian daily newspaper Al Urdun, April 9th 1953:

“I could go on and on with this forgotten or deliberately obscured history. But you get the point. There was no Jewish conspiracy to chase Arabs out of their homes in 1948. It never happened. There are instead plenty of historical records showing the Jews pleading with their Arab neighbors to stay and live in peace and harmony. Yet, despite the clear unambiguous words of the Arab observers at the time, history has been successfully rewritten to turn the Jews into the bad guys”.

Ahmad Shukan 1956, Arab representative to the United Nations:

“Such a creature as Palestine does not exist at all”.

The Cairo Daily Akhbar el Yom, October 12th 1963:

“For the flight and fall of the other villages it is our leaders who are responsible because of their dissemination of rumors exaggerating the Jewish crimes and describing them as atrocities in order to inflame the Arabs. By spreading rumors of Jewish atrocities, killing of women and children etc. they instilled fear and terror in the hearts of the Arabs until they fled leaving homes and properties to the enemy”.

Syrian dictator Hafez Assad to the PLO Leader, Yasser Arafat who was perversely, Egyptian:

“Never forget this one point, there is no such thing as a Palestinian people, there is only Syria”.

In this handful of similar quotations and statements not one Arab leader, politician, statesman or journal refers to the Palestinians as a collective. The Palestinians were a 1960’s political invention.

For those of you who have persevered with this post, it will not surprise you to learn that Jerusalem was never mentioned in the original 1964 Palestinian Charter, such is the Palestinian love for the Holy City. Nor when it was in Jordanian control for near on twenty years did one Muslim Head of State visit Jerusalem to pray, again proof of the lack of respect and claim to the Holy City. Indeed, in such contempt was Jerusalem held that the Jordanians desecrated it and moved all the Government Offices from Jerusalem to Amman to decrease Jerusalem’s importance. The writings of Joseph Farah above ring so true about Arab Islamic greed for land.

  1. The only stolen land was the 80% of the Palestine Mandate handed to the Arab Hashemite clan in 1920 by the British. This 80% became Trans Jordan in 1921.

The Hashemites had no previous connection to ‘Palestine’ but in fact were refugees from Arabia many leagues to the south.
Trans Jordan became the kingdom of Jordan and has, from it’s beginning, been still is Judenrein!

  2. Many Israeli Jews have never heard of the Peel Commission. A failure of the schools’ teaching, maybe related to Shulamit Alongi’s control of the curriculum under ben Gurion, Alongi being ultra-left.
