And when the Kingdom [Saudi Arabia] announces “Green Riyadh”, which is one of the four major Riyadh projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2019, and is followed by the “Green Saudi” initiative announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman a few days ago, then it can be emphasized that we are In front of a new approach that the Kingdom adopts and spends huge sums for, so that it becomes a green oasis the size of a continent, in the middle of the world, and an Arab model to be followed in preserving a pure environment free of pollutants and what makes life uncomfortable. Writes Hani Khashoggi

The Kingdom’s initiatives and projects in creating a pure and healthy environment coincide with the aspirations of international organizations, which have called and warned more than once that the planet is in real danger, due to human tampering with it, which prompted international organizations to adopt the 2030 development plan, and call on the countries of the world to Achieving 17 goals and 169 goals for sustainable development.

And when the Kingdom announces “Green Riyadh”, which is one of the four major Riyadh projects launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz in 2019, and is followed by the “Green Saudi” initiative announced by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman a few days ago, then it can be emphasized that we are In front of a new approach that the Kingdom adopts and spends huge sums for, so that it becomes a green oasis the size of a continent, in the middle of the world, and an Arab model to be followed in preserving a pure environment free of pollutants and what makes life uncomfortable.

I did not intend to talk about the environmental projects that the Kingdom adopts, especially since my colleagues, writers, journalists and media professionals have given this aspect its right in their media, but what really caught my eye was this momentum and official interest from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with environmental projects in this form of magnitude, inclusiveness and specific objectives, which Today, the Kingdom is given real leadership in preserving the environment, in full view of the world, which continues to praise the Kingdom’s initiatives in this regard, and awaits their results when they are completed.

I believe that the Kingdom senses – voluntarily – the reality of the dangers facing the planet from global warming and the increase in pollution resulting from various industries, and the Kingdom believes that all countries should participate in protecting the planet, because there is no benefit – in the long term – for a state to protect the environment, While others are destroying that environment, and perhaps for that matter, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s initiative, “Green Middle East,” came as if it would compensate for any shortcomings that might emanate from the countries of the region in preserving the environment.

What is really striking is that environmental projects in the Kingdom did not come in the form of individual projects or initiatives, but rather came in a formal, systematic and clear form at the core of Vision 2030, whose periphery of interest goes beyond social and economic reform and reaches comprehensive environmental reform, as if the Kingdom believes that there is no benefit in an economy A strong, developed and an ideal society in an environment that complains of pollutants and global warming, and groans from the abundance of diseases and epidemics.

Here, let me record – once again – my admiration for the Vision 2030, which as if it establishes a modern and developed country from A to Z, and shows a special interest in human health, psyche and preparation through its interest in humanizing cities and purifying them from diseases, believing that this person is the one who will implement the vision projects and achieve its provisions on Ground. From here I wait and millions in the Kingdom and abroad are waiting with me for the results of the “Green Riyadh” project, the “Green Saudi Arabia” initiative, and with them the “Green Middle East”.
