Turkey forces Yazidis in following sharia rule

Yazidis are being facing continuous persecution ever-since Islamic State (ISIS) had emerged in 2016. Hundreds of Yazidi girls and women were abducted by the ISIS jihadists and many of them were later sold as sex slaves. Despite international outcry in defense of the Yazidis, Turkey’s radical Islamic dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his regime have further intensified persecution on Yazidis by forcing Yazidi females in following sharia rule. They even are expanding such notorious agenda in other nations, including Syria.

According to Germany-based Society for Threatened Peoples International (STPI), Turkey’s apex religious body, the Religious Affair Director (Dinayet) has built mosques in Yazidi villages to promote Islamization in the northern Syrian region of Afrin.

The STPI said that Turkey is promoting a particularly radical interpretation of Sunni Islam [with the ulterior motive of establishing Ottoman Caliphate in Turkey and beyond] as Dinayet also disseminated its religious views to local schools in Germany through the Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DİTİB), one of Germany’s largest Islamist organizations.

Kamal Sido, STPI’s Middle East expert said, “Yazidi sources tell us about the construction of mosque in Yazidi village of Shadere, south of Afrin-City. Forty-five Yazidi people still live in Shadere but there were 450 before the Turkish occupation”.

He said, “After most of them were displaced, Turkey settled radical Muslims there. They regularly carry our raids against the indigenous Kurdish population”.

According to Sido, Dinayet determined what is preached in the mosques and Afrin’s new Koranic schools.

He further said, “Even little girls often have to wear a headscarf. During the latest Gaza escalation, the mosques circulated hate speech against Israel and Jews”.

According to another source, Turkish regime were vigorously pursuing Muslims in Syria and other Arab, Muslim and western nations asking Muslims to extend support towards Hamas and encourage anti-Semitic activities mostly in the non-Muslim nations.

DİTİB is not a liberal association and it propagates radical Islam, according to the STPI, which said that during Turkey’s 2018 military offensive into Afrin, almost all DİTİB mosques in Germany prayed for the victory of the occupying army.

At least 96 percent of the population of Afrin was once Kurdish. After the Turkish occupation, most of them were displaced, and the Kurdish population fell to around 25 percent.

“This means that Turkey is about to achieve one of its most important goals: to make Afrin Kurdish-free”, said Kamal Sido.

It may be mentioned here that, Afrin’s Kurds are predominantly moderate Sunni Muslims. At one point, 20,000 to 30,000 Yazidis lived in Afrin, while the current number of Yazidis in Afrin is only a few thousand.
