Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be visiting India on a 3-day official visit from September 5, 2022. This trip shall further deepen the relations between Bangladesh and New Delhi. Prior to this august official visit, Indian news outlet ANI published an exclusive interview of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, where she said, Awami League government strongly supports secularism and any attempt to disrupt communal harmony are being immediately dealt with. However, she contended that religious extremism was not limited only to Bangladesh, as many countries in the world, including India are also witnessing and combating such evil elements. The Prime Minister said one of the reasons for the rising extremism was social media, which had become “very very bad nowadays”. “As long as we are in power, we always give importance to that and I always tell them (the minority) that you are our citizens. You should own our country. But some incidents sometimes take place but immediately we take action. It is sometimes, it happened, it’s very unwanted situation but you know very well it is not only Bangladesh, even in India also sometimes minorities suffered”, she said. There have been reports about attacks and hostility against the minority Hindu population in Bangladesh. Some reports have mentioned attacks on Durga Puja pandals or places of worship. Sheikh Hasina, however, said that it was important that countries show magnanimity, when asked about incidents of attacks on the Hindu minority population. “I think that both the country should show their magnanimity and our part, you know Bangladesh is a secular country and we have many religions here. And the religion harmony is here, very much. So, one or two incident when it takes place immediately… especially my party… my party people, they are very much, conscious about it and also my government. We immediately take action”, she said. Asked to comment on the role of the radical community of bloggers and others on social media, Sheikh Hasina said that it is not desirable that people write things to hurt each other and added that her government tried to curb any such activity. “Look extremism is everywhere. Even in India or other countries if you see in the world, there are many countries you can find it out. So because of social media it has become very… very bad nowadays. Some people sometimes write something. Even sometimes it’s not the bloggers but even other religion or so… Sometimes they write and then immediately people they come, but we have been trying our best to control it. We never support that. Each and every religion, they have their right to perform their religion properly, and one should not say such a thing that will hurt the other religion”, she said. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the news agency, that while some incidents occurred, Bangladesh has a tradition where people of all religions take part in all celebrations. “We all, together we celebrate… As a cultural event, even you can see in Bangladesh, during Durga Puja. So many places, we have Durga Puja and people celebrate all together. So the religion harmony is there but now some… here and there some incidents happen but our government immediately takes action against it”, the Prime Minister said. Asked about the prevalence of cattle-smuggling from India into Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said the issue was under discussion and the magnitude of the problem had also been reduced a lot. Vested interest groups use social media in spreading religious hatred For the last several years, anti-Bangladesh elements, particularly Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) as well as families of war criminals have been spending millions of dollars towards numerous conspiracies against Sheikh Hasina and Awami League government. Recently, one such conspiracy racket came under the radar of Indian intelligence agencies. According to media reports, Shipan Kumer Basu, president of a scam racket named ‘World Hindu Struggle Committee’ and few of his cohorts including Prasanna Kumar Roy and Mendi N Safadi are under radar of Indian intelligence agency Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to media reports, Shipan Kumer Basus’ name surfaced as one of the key handlers of West Bengal’s SSC scam. The report said, Shipan Kumer Basu was one of the main cohorts of an individual named Prasanna Kumar Roy, who is a nephew of Partha Chatterjee, leader of West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress and a junior minister. Because of extreme intimacy and possible financial links between Shipan Kumer Basu and Prasanna Kumar Roy, Basu gave the position of ‘Chief Financial Advisor’ in his scam racket named ‘World Hindu Struggle Committee. According to the website information, leader of BNP, Aslam Chowdhury is an advisor of this organization. Other advisors of this organization are: Mendi N Safadi, Frank CreyelmanDragana TrifkovicStephan Tchernetich, Hereditary Prince of Montenegro, Serbia and AlbaniaNoor DahriLady Erika Morales Cruz, MA Monayem (from Bangladesh), Manel Salmi, Ishkhan Rasoev and others. When this newspaper contacted each of the individuals shown as the advisors of ‘World Hindu Struggle Committee’, most of them expressed utter surprise as they even had never heard any such name. Those who are proved to be involved with this dubious organization are Mendi N Safadi, Aslam Chowdhury and Prasanna Kumar Roy. Following publication of the TV9Bangla and Blitz reports, a shrewd Shipan Kumer Basu, who actually runs this dubious venture has hurriedly removed the name of Prasanna Kumar Roy from the website of World Hindu Struggle Committee and his posts on Facebook about his connections with Prasanna Kumar Roy. But evidence of connections between Shipan Kumer Basu and Prasanna Kumar Roy still remains live in a report on website named The News. Following exposure of his connections with the masterminds of SSC Scam, Shipan Kumer Basu posted an announcement on his Facebook ID on August 29, 2022, stating Prasanna Kumar Roy has been “relieved from all posts of WHSC”. According to our own sources in India, such announcement has been made by Shipan Kumer Basu to hide his connections with the masterminds of SSC scam. They said, the Central Burau of Investigation should immediately arrest and interrogate Shipan Kumer Basu and his wife Sabita Biswas Basu for the sake of knowing details of how this couple had collaborated with Partha Chatterjee and Prasanna Kumar Roy in laundering millions of Indian rupees to several countries. According to the August 29 notice and website, office of World Hindu Struggle Committee is situated at: 66, Ideal Villas, DA block, Action Area, Newtown, Kolkata- 700156, West Bengal, India. Contact numbers are: +91 95641 86761, +033 4603 0066, Cell: +91 98749 78846, Cell: +91 91238 00434. But Indian intelligence sources said, there is no existence of any office of the World Hindu Struggle Committee in the afore-mentioned address.
