Can Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina get ‘another chance’?

While exchanging Eid greetings with a cross section of people, Bangladesh Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina urged the people of the country to give her party “another chance” in the next general election to help establish Bangladesh into a developing nation. She also said, if anti-liberation forces and corrupt elements come to power again, they will destroy all the achievements of the last 13 years.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “I am grateful to the people as they voted us to power time and again and give us scope to serve them. The next general election is knocking at the door. I wish that the people will give us another chance to establish Bangladesh as a developing nation as the country will start its journey as a complete developing nation from 2026. We have taken preparation to this end”.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh has got recognition as a developing nation due to the continuation of democratic process in the country and stability since 2009.

Bangladesh, she said, has witnessed such a huge socio-economic advancement as the people voted the Awami League to power in 2008, 2014 and 2018 elections consecutively.

Sheikh Hasina said she loves the country and its people like a mother, adding that she has been working relentlessly to bring smiles on the faces of the distressed people by changing their fates, giving them a beautiful and improved life by ensuring all the basic needs as envisioned by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The Prime Minister however urged the countrymen to remain alert against the war criminals, corrupts and grenade attackers as they are out to destroy the advancement of Bangladesh.

“The country and all of its advancement will be ruined if the anti-liberation elements, war criminals, killers, grenade attackers and corrupts are voted to power again. So, the countrymen should have to remain alert”, she said.

“I feel proud being a daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Premiership is nothing to me”, she said, adding that she considers power as a means of serving the people.

The Prime Minister reiterated her call to the countrymen to bring every inch of arable land across the country under cultivation so that the Russia-Ukraine war cannot create any crisis.

“We have to grow food for ourselves and export the surplus food to other countries. We have already started exporting vegetables to other countries”, she said.

In my opinion, while calling upon people to vote Awami League again in power during the next general elections and asking them to remain alert against anti-liberation forces and corrupt elements come to power again, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina needs to know – currently there is far bigger conspiracy against Bangladesh jointly by pro-Islamist Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its ideological cohort Jamaat-e-Islami as this vicious nexus is spending millions of dollars towards lobbyist activities in the United States and other Western countries, including Britain with the ulterior agenda of returning to power through undemocratic paths. Because of such frantic bids of BNP and Jamaat, countries like the US, particularly the Biden administration is showing clear signs of bias towards them, where Washington too is trying to reinstate Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP into power under the garb of Biden administration’s ‘democratism’ policy which is aimed at cow-towing targeted foreign nations through its so-called approach for better democracy, which according to many analysts is aimed at establishing monopoly influence of the United States with the ulterior motive of extracting multiple strategic and financial benefits by planting its marionette regime.

Hopefully, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also aware that BNP-Jamaat nexus and its cronies are spending hugely towards massive propaganda in the international media targeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League and Bangladesh, which has been gradually intensifying eyeing on the next general election. Due to such propaganda, which unfortunately remains un-protested and un-countered by the Bangladesh authorities or patriotic journalists and columnists in the country, the international community is continuing to get the wrong message about Bangladesh and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. As we know, in today’s world of advanced technology where social media and newspapers play pivotal roles, the majority of the nations in the world are putting special emphasis on media, as this has already emerged into one of the most important players in politics, diplomacy, economy and geostrategy. Unfortunately, the Bangladesh government is yet to realize this crucial reality.
