Ebrahim Raisi and Iranian regime face acute crisis

Ebrahim Raisi, the infamous butcher of Tehran was “elected” through a farce election. Most of the Iranian voters boycotted this scandalous election as it was engineered to make scandalous Raisi victorious. It may be mentioned here that, Ebrahim Raisi contested in the presidential election four years ago and was defeated by Hassan Rouhani. But this time things worked in Raisi’s favor as Iran’s Supreme Leader Khameni took personal initiative which had resulted in Raisi’s key rivals such as Ali Larijani (former speaker of the parliament‎) and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (former two terms president) being disqualified by the Guardian Council to run in the elections. As a result, Ebrahim Raisi succeeded in getting “elected” as the seventh president of Iran with only about 10 percent of the eligible voter’s participation.

According to media reports, Raisi, who was just a young seminary student at the beginning of the 1979 revolution, played an important role in eliminating Khomeini’s opponents in the early days after the anti-Shah revolution. He became a deputy prosecutor and then a prosecutor. His special contribution to the political prisoners’ massacre in 1988 allowed him to rapidly fulfill his ambitions and become blue-eyed-boy to Iranian regime’s bigwigs.

On Ayatollah Rohullah Khomeini’s behest (fatwa), right after accepting ceasefire in the eight-years Iran-Iraq war, the death committee appointed by Khomeini massacred almost all political prisoners who refused to accept Khomeini as their leader. According to information leaked by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), over 30 thousand people, of whom 90 percent were members and activists of PMOI were executed during the bloody purge.

The role of Ebrahim Raisi as one of those who issued these sentences was revealed by Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, who was Khomeini’s successor at the time but opposed the massacre. Montazeri was punished for his view and ousted by Khomeini, and after the death of Ayatollah Rohullah Khomeini, Ali Khamenei was appointed as Khomeini’s successor.

After Khamenei became the Supreme Leader of the mullahs’ regime in Iran, Ebrahim Raisi continued to climb the ladder of promotion because of his absolute obedience to Khamenei and was awarded with important positions such as the head of one of the richest financial institutions of the regime called Astan Quds Razavi. According to AP, on January 13, 2021, the US Treasury Department in the final days of the Trump administration sanctioned the Astan Quds Razavi Foundation and 15 other institutions. The estimated wealth of the organization is tens of billions of dollars as it owns almost half the land in Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city.

Following Raisi’s defeat in the 2017 presidential elections, Ali Khamenei appointed him as the Chief Justice, one of the levers of power in the Iranian regime, so that he could suppress his opponents.

Analysts say, as Ali Khamenei is already 82-years-old and has been suffering from numerous health issues, Iranian regime has been looking for his successor, although it is believed that Ebrahim Raisi is almost destined to flop as the country’s present, which may ultimately result in the fall of mullah regime in Iran. Moreover, Raisi has too many enemies within the administration and even Iran’s notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and other important organizations including its intelligence agencies.

For Raisi, the only thing he has mastered during the past few decades is the rogue practice of suppressing people and killing them en masse. Moreover, Raisi is quite incapable of handling international affairs and diplomacy due to his lack of adequate educational background. It may be mentioned here that, Ebrahim Raisi ended his education at the elementary school. To the Iranian society, Raisi is known as the death judge or Islamist murderer.

Due to extreme poor governance and rampant corruption and loot of public wealth, over 80 percent of the Iranians currently live below the poverty line while the soaring inflation rate has wracked the economic backbone. In today’s Iran the most unfortunate scene is children scavenging in the garbage, or people selling body organs such as kidneys or hearts for their survival. Large number of Iranian girls and women are forced into hidden prostitution under the garb of mut’ah marriage. According to sources, there are dozens of secret brothels in most of the Iranian cities, including Tehran and Qom.

According to experts of Iranian affairs, a large number of factories and production facilities have been shut down or are reporting losses due to the plundering and mismanagement by the regime leaders and their cohorts. The educated youth in Iran are mostly unemployed, and many are desperately attempting or willing to migrate abroad. According to the World Bank, Iran loses over US$50 billion annually due to the emigration of its university graduates to other countries. To fully understand this figure, it should be compared with the annual revenue of Iranian oil, Iran’s largest source of income which was US$20 billion in 2019.

Khamenei, with the help of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), strives to destroy the spirit of resistance in younger Iranians by pushing them towards drug addiction. As a result, a high percentage of high school girls and boys are now addicted. Access to drugs is easier and cheaper than food. It is even reported that several influential members of the mullah regime as well as officials of IRGC are directly involved in dealing in drugs.

Class differences in Iran have reached such a level that the middle class has disappeared. The majority of people live below the poverty line and 38 million cannot even afford to live in metropolitan areas. As a result, they forced to shift to the outskirts of cities living in shantytowns. A small percentage of the population (250,000 people) has become filthily rich that Iran now ranks first in the number of millionaires in the region.

Ebrahim Raidi is set to become Iran’s president at a very crucial time as the country is facing tough challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic. According to several sources, Iran has suffered the most deaths from the disease in the world compared to its size of population. It is claimed that over 340,000 people have already died in Iran due to the pandemic. While COVID has pushed Iranians into unimaginable sufferings, the mullah regime is either reluctant or incapable of ensuring vaccines, while it also is failing in taking necessary preventive measures such a imposing strict lockdown. According to the Associated Press on July 27, 2021, less than 3 percent of the population in Iran have been fully vaccinated, while most countries have vaccinated more than 40 percent and some countries over 70 percent of their population.

With such terrible situation in Iran, the world has been witnessing series of protests in different cities in the country, which began with the uprising of the people of the oil-rich Khuzestan province. In this province, farmers have lost their agricultural crops and livestock due to acute water crisis, drought and drying up of the rivers due to faulty and improper dam construction by IRGC affiliates. Iranian protesters are changing slogans saying “Down with the dictator”, “Down with the mullah regime” and “Down with Khamenei”. Meaning, Iranian have already become totally fed-up with the notorious mullah regime, which may sooner or later result in the fall of cruel mullahs in the country. Iranians needs to be liberated from the vicious grips of the mullahs.
