Yale University professor justifies Hefazat-e-Islam anarchism

On March 29, 2021, Yale University professor Ahmed Mushfiq Mobarak, made foul attempt of justifying the notorious anarchism, vandalism and terrorist activities of pro-Caliphate radical Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam, wrote on his Twitter post: Bangladesh appears to have walked into a clever trap set by Modi. He visits a temple of importance to some West Bengalis voting in a closely-contested TMC-BJP state election. His visit spreads communal violence in Bangladesh.

Then in the comment box of the status, Professor Mobarak wrote: Modi manages to communalize politics and society on both sides of the Bangladesh- West Bengal border with one visit. এক ঢিলে দুই পাখি. Why are we behaving like clueless pawns in this destructive game of divisive politics between Hindus and Muslims? Good to see people engaging today, complaining about violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. It would be even better to see Muslims joining that chorus in defense of minorities (Hindus, Chakma, Ahmadiya Muslims..), and to see Hindus complaining equally vehemently about treatment of minorities in India. If we can all get past our tribalism and protest equally strongly about the mistreatment of minorities regardless of their identity & religion, then Hefazot [Hefazat] in BD [Bangladesh] or Modi in India or Mullahs in Pakistan wouldn’t be able to divide us this way.

After reports emerged on social media about how Hefazat-e-Islam targetted Hindu temples, the Professor turned ‘activist’ went silent on the micro-blogging platform. Following outrage by the Hindu community over the inhumane atrocities committed against them under the pretext of PM Modi’s visit, Ahmed Mushfiq Mobarak desperately tried to prove his ‘secular’ credentials.

It may be mentioned here that, during the official 2-day visit on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh for participating in the golden jubilee celebration of independence of the country, rowdy members of Hefazat-e-Islami and other Islamists, including members of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Jamaat-e-Islami, Hizbut Tahrir etcetera attacked Hindu temples in the name of protest against Modi’s trip. These Islamists and their cohorts had established reign of terror throughout Bangladesh, and there are signs of continuation of such madness.

During these vandalisms, anarchism and terrorist activities, three rooms of the 400-year-old Paruarkul Ashtagram Maha crematorium and Radhagobind Ashram were burnt down by in Mohammadpur Upazila of Bangladesh’s Magura district. Parts of three houses, chariots and idols were also reduced to ashes in the fire which was later brought under control.

Tweets of this Yale Professor is outrageous, deplorable and a naked attempt of inciting violence and notoriety of radical Islamic groups in Bangladesh. He is clearly biased towards Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress, Hefazat-e-Islam and those radical Islamic groups. In fact, he also is favorable to enemies of the US.
