Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said BNP-Jamaat joined hands with Hefajat to carry out mayhem across the country as the alliance became politically isolated from people.

He said this while inaugurating a mural “Janak Jotirmoy” of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking his birth centenary at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) here.

Hanif said when the nation was observing a 10-day grand program on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and golden jubilee of the country’s independence, Hefajat carried out mayhem and destroyed public property in the name of religion.

Hefajat is not following the ideology of Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (SM) rather they are carrying out anarchic activities for attaining their political interest, he said.

The AL leader said their evil and destructive activities will not be tolerated.

He said a BNP leader gave directives to the party workers to set buses on fire and send her the video footage as she could forward the video to ‘proper place’ and this ‘proper place’ is fugitive convict Tarique Rahman.

Hanif termed Tarique Rahman as a terrorist saying he disgraced the country’s golden jubilee celebration.

PUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Rostom Ali chaired the function while Pabna-1 lawmaker Shamsul Haque Tuku, Pabna-5 lawmaker Golam Faruk Prince, Pabna-4 lawmaker valiant freedom fighter Md Nuruzzaman Biswas, Pabna-2 lawmaker Ahmed Firoj Kabir, Kushtia-1 lawmaker AKM Sarwar Jahan, Kushtia-4 lawmaker Barrister Selim Altaf George, Nadira Yasmin Joli, MP, Pabna district AL President and Zila Parishad member Rezaul Rahim Lal and PUST Treasurer Prof Md Anwar Khasru Parvez were present among others.

Anti-state propaganda continues on social media

According to a report published in Blitz, some unscrupulous individuals belonging to BNP-Jamaat and various militancy groups are posting anti-state propaganda on social media, giving incitement of anarchism and terrorist activities, centering the recent Bangladesh visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On March 29, 2021, a female with Islamist connection in Dhaka posted a video of Moulana Azhari, where a large number of antigovernmental elements are seen making comments with the call of waging “jihad” against the government of Sheikh Hasina. Although the matter was brought into the attention of a number of senior officials of Bangladesh Police, until filing of this report, no action was initiated by any of the law enforcement agencies.
