Lauren Boebert wants Eric and Adam booted out

Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert is praising House Speaker Kevin McCarthy for honoring his pledge to remove a handful of controversial Democrats from their committee assignments.

During an interview on Fox News, Boebert spoke with host Dan Bongino about McCarthy fulfilling one of his promises to boot Democrat Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from the Intelligence Committee. McCarthy is also prepared to prevent Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar from being on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“You heard what McCarthy said, they won’t have Swalwell on any committee. Joining me, is Lauren Boebert. Seriously, Swalwell is a disaster. We know about the scandal with ‘fang fang.’ How is this guy still on the intel committee getting briefings?” Bongino asked Boebert.

“Thank you for providing cover for us. We are fighting for these legislative wins we received. These fun times amount to changes. As far as Swalwell. The last Congress congressman was removed from his committee because he made a video. But little Eric took a walk and refused to take the vote. He’s compromised and he should be nowhere near secret classified information. Dan: Adam Schiff as well. He wasted six years of our life fantasizing about some Trump peepee tape that didn’t exist. Then he got busted trying to push another hoax about Russians and Devin Nunes,” Boebert said.

“They are showing their colors. They are a bunch of conspiracy theorists that have witch hunts and hoaxes they chase after. They wanted Trump in jail over classified documents. With Biden, it’s let’s wait and see. They attacked Don Jr. and praised Hunter Biden. If it was a Republican caught with a Chinese spy, what would they do? They would be all over it. But the fake news, they would be running 24/7. And most Americans haven’t heard about everything that’s going on. Not only has gone back to Swalwell, but he was also a subcommittee chair. And in one hand he’s holding a gavel and in the other hand, he’s holding a hammer and sickle. Dan: congresswoman Lauren Boebert, thanks for all you did up there, it was a good time,” she added.

McCarthy first made the promise in November after Republicans won a narrow majority in the House.

“Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance in the secrets to America? So, I will not allow him to be on Intel,” he said. “You have Adam Schiff, who had lied to the American public time and again. We will not allow him to be on the Intel Committee either.”

Swalwell has been under scrutiny by Republicans after it was reported in 2020 that a suspected Chinese spy had developed relations with the California Democrat in what U.S. officials believe was an extensive political intelligence operation run by China between 2011 and 2015. A spokesperson for Swalwell said at the time he had not interacted with the operative in roughly six years, and the California Democrat has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

Schiff has also been a target of the GOP over the last several years after he led hearings for former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial, during which the former president was accused of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Schiff has continued to elicit the ire of the GOP with his position on the Jan. 6 committee, an investigation Republicans have denounced as politically motivated.

McCarthy has also long sought to remove “Squad” member Omar from her seat on the Foreign Affairs Committee, accusing the Minnesota Democrat of making antisemitic comments in the past. Omar, who was first elected in 2018, has ignited a series of controversies over her anti-Israel positions and has faced other accusations of antisemitism over specific comments.

In comments in November, the California Republican said that he plans to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee over several past “antisemitic” remarks.

“We watch antisemitism grow, not just on our campuses, but we watched it grow In the halls of Congress,” he told the Republican Jewish Coalition’s 2022 leadership meeting in Las Vegas.

“I promised you last year that as Speaker, she will no longer be on Foreign Affairs, and I’m keeping that promise,” he said as the audience cheered.

A clip of McCarthy making his pledge was posted to Twitter: “The Speaker does not have the power to remove a member from a standing committee. Foreign Affairs is a standing committee. Each party has their own rules and procedures for assigning committee roles. Only a majority vote by the entire house could remove Rep. Omar”.
