Nancy Pelosi bluffs donors during fundraising

With the wrong motive of encouraging donors in helping Democratic Party with larger donation, Nancy Pelosi in a recent fundraising email lied about prediction of election forecaster FiveThirtyEight.

“Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight just announced that Democrats are poised to win SIX Senate seats this November”, Pelosi wrote in the email, falsely saying the site predicts Democratic victories in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Ohio.

Smashing Pelosi’s lie, Nate Silver tweeted saying: “This is straight-up misinformation. We have Democrats as heavy underdogs in Florida and Ohio”.

Nancy Pelosi, who routinely sends out emotionally charged campaign emails, has a long history of making false or misleading statements. Pelosi recently attempted to justify skyrocketing inflation under President Joe Biden by saying that “when unemployment goes down, inflation goes up”, a claim that PolitiFact rated mostly false, and blaming Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Inflation started surging under Biden months before Russia’s invasion, the Washington Free Beacon has reported.

Silver’s FiveThirtyEight model projects that Republicans have a 54 percent chance of winning the Senate. The model rates Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Nevada as tossups. The election forecaster says that Republicans have a 90 percent chance of victory in Ohio and a 94 percent chance in Florida. Of the states Pelosi mentioned in her email, New Hampshire is the only one that FiveThirtyEight predicts will stay blue.

Silver’s model for the House predicts that Pelosi will lose her job as speaker, forecasting that Republicans have an 87 percent chance of retaking the chamber.

Meanwhile, Pelosi appears to be in denial about her party’s standing with the American people.

“I don’t think the public is blaming Democrats” for sky-high gas prices, Pelosi told reporters. “I think they’re blaming oil companies”.

Nancy Pelosi made the claim in the face of poll after poll after poll showing that Americans blame gas prices and surging inflation on Democratic president Joe Biden.

“If the Republicans stand in the way of us freeing the consumer of the stranglehold of Big Oil, you think they’re going to blame that on the Democrats?” Pelosi asked a reporter. She then pointed at the reporter and said, “You think that. You think that. OK”.

Pelosi’s remarks recall Biden’s refusal to accept responsibility for gas prices. Experts ridiculed one Biden tweet last month that attempted to shift the blame on to “Big Oil”, with one recommending that the president ask the Energy Information Administration to explain “realities to you and your staff”.

Biden’s allies in Congress worked hard last year to spike gas prices, pressuring oil execs to decrease outputs because of climate-change concerns, the Washington Free Beacon reported. Biden during his first week in office canceled the Keystone XL pipeline and instituted a moratorium on new gas leases.

On the same day that Pelosi made her claims, Biden also brushed aside bad news for his administration and party.

“I’m not concerned about a recession”, Biden said after Commerce Department data showed the economy shrinking in the first quarter of 2022, sparking fears of a recession.
