Tarique Rahman considers his mother unfit for politics

Tarique Rahman, convicted leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who has been living in the United Kingdom since 2007 has been openly accusing his mother Khaleda Zia, who too faces rigorous imprisonment on charges of stealing orphanage fund, unfit to run the party. According to credible sources, Tarique Rahman was under pressure from his mother and several loyalists of Khaleda Zia for treating the party as his mere political shop. During the 2018 general elections, Tarique Rahman made large amount of cash by selling party’s nominations. Recently he has also bee accused of selling various posts in Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangsthha (JASAS), cultural front of the party. A vernacular daily recently claimed, Tarique Rahman had received BDT 5 million from an controversial actor, who was earlier accused of running illegal VOIP business in Bangladesh and dealing in porn movies for the post of president of JASAS. Subsequently, the actor became convener of the newly declared committee of the cultural front. Khaleda Zia reportedly had expressed anger at Tarique’s habit of making money by selling nominations and posts of the party. As a result, there has already been a distance created between the mother and the son.

Being aggrieved with Khaleda Zia’s reactions, Tarique Rahman started making repeated attempts of removing his mother from the top position of the party stating she was “unfit for politics”.

Meanwhile, British authorities are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with Tarique Rahman’s continuous involvement in numerous forms of illegal activities including his bids of spreading terror in Bangladesh. Tarique Rahman is also accused of maintaining connections with a number of radical Islamic groups such as Hefazat-e-Islam, and jihadist outfits such as Harkatul Jihad, Ansar al Islam, Hizbut Tahrir etcetera.

It is also learnt from media reports that, sitting in London, Tarique Rahman has been living a filthy life by visiting casinos and night clubs on a regular basis. He also maintains a mistress in Britain.

In Britain, Tarique Rahman is regularly seen meeting with officials of Pakistani spy agency Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) as well as several individuals who are suspected to be members of notorious terror don Dawood Ibrahim’s crime racket.

Meanwhile, another media report claims that Tarique Rahman has suddenly gone into hiding for reasons unknown. He even refrained from issuing any statement on November 7, a day observed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party, a day when Tarique father General Ziaur Rahman came to power through a coup with the help of Jatiya Samajtantrik Daal (JSD).

Some of the confidantes of Tarique Rahman have been suggesting him to send his daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman to Bangladesh and take control of BNP. But Tarique and his wife are unwilling to send Zaima back to Bangladesh as she is currently having affairs with a Pakistani youth, whose father is a wealthy businessman in London. The source said, Zaima’s boyfriend is unwilling to let her join politics. It is also learnt that the father of Zaima Rahman’s boyfriend was earlier connected to ARY Gold, an infamous company based in Dubai, which has been involved in supplying weapon to various terrorist groups in the world. According to media reports, ARY Gold maintains connections with Pakistani spy agency ISI and Dawood Ibrahim’s D Company.
