Tension between Biden and Harris heats-up

While according to The New York Times report nearly 50 Democratic officials and disappointed voters who are alarmed about Republicans’ rising strength and extraordinarily pessimistic about an immediate path forward under the Biden administration, tension between President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been heating up for the past several months, while former President Bill Clinton strategist Dick Morris claimed that Biden’s aides are leaking stories criticizing Kamala Harris because they are concerned she will invoke the 25th Amendment in an attempt to remove the president from office.

The 25th Amendment, proposed by Congress and ratified by the states in the aftermath of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, provides the procedures for replacing the president or vice president in the event of death, removal, resignation, or incapacitation.  The Watergate scandal of the 1970s saw the application of these procedures, first when Gerald Ford replaced Spiro Agnew as vice president, then when he replaced Richard Nixon as president, and then when Nelson Rockefeller filled the resulting vacancy to become the vice president.

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment says:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

What Dick Morris said?

Bill Clinton strategist Dick Morris began by citing a New York Times article that “talks about how [Kamala] Harris is not ready for prime time. She was antagonizing her staff. She screwed up on the trip to the border”.

Morris said he thinks the leak for the story “must have undoubtedly come from the Biden forces”.

Dick Morris said that this makes sense, because: “The rumor I keep hearing from sources close to the White House is that Biden is getting worse. That the dementia is really becoming noticeable and harder to control and harder to camouflage. I believe there may be a move coming to invoke the 25th Amendment against Biden and replace him with Harris”.

“Biden’s people are pushing back against it by shooting at [Kamala] Harris and saying that she’s not really ready to be president”, Morris said.

Morris said it’s clear to him the leaks to the NYT came from Biden’s allies because “the only reason for them to do that [is to push back] against the 25th Amendment coup”.

Morris added that “the Democrats are realizing they’re cooked in 2022… They will lose the House. The Senate, they might also lose. I think that there is a sense of panic among Democrats”.

Two explosive rumors hit the White House last week

The first issue came on June 13, 2022 when CNN’s Don Lemon flat-out asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if President Joe Biden has the “stamina, physically and mentally” to run for a second term in 2024.

Currently, Biden is 79 years old. He would be 82 years old on Inauguration Day 2025 if he were to run again and win.

Lemon even asking the question speaks volumes about just how bad things have gotten under Biden.

The second issue came when the New York Times published an explosive piece detailing how Democrats are mulling replacing Joe Biden at the top of the ticket in 2024.

“Many Democratic lawmakers and party officials are venting their frustrations with President Biden’s struggle to advance the bulk of his agenda, doubting his ability to rescue the party from a predicted midterm trouncing and increasingly viewing him as an anchor that should be cut loose in 2024”, the NYT reported.

The NYT report cited “nearly 50 Democratic officials” and “disappointed voters” who are “alarmed about Republicans’ rising strength and extraordinarily pessimistic about an immediate path forward” under the Biden administration.

Shall Kamala Harris invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Joe Biden?

The question though still remains foggy, it is anticipated that Kamala Harris is aware of the anticipated outcome of the November midterm elections, where Republicans are forecasted of gaining majority in the Congress and the Senate. Some of the finest political analysts in the United States already are seeing a “red wave” during the midterms. Meaning, the pos-midterm elections situation would be certainly volatile for Joe Biden as he may get impeached for inefficiency and burying limitless corruption of his son and other members of the Biden family. Once that happens, Kamala Harris too would be in trouble as she cannot escape responsibilities for Biden’s failures. She can only salvage her political doom by immediately invoking the 25th Amendment and remove Joe Biden from presidency. Whether she will do it can only be said before the November midterm elections.
