Most interestingly, Iranians did not hesitate in attacking websites of CNN, BBC, New York Times, the Financial Times, The Guardian, France’s Le Monde newspaper, Italy’s Corriere delle Serra and Spanish daily El Mundo as well as social and entertainment site Reddit, despite the fact of majority of these news sites being notoriously inclined towards Iran and its proxies such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis.

According to news reports, Iranian state actors are intensifying their disinformation campaign on social Several media, government and social sites such as the UK government, the White House and Reddit suffered temporary outages on Tuesday due to a glitch in cloud computing services provider Fastly.

Fastly said “the issue has been identified and a fix has been applied. Customers may experience increased origin load as global services return.”

Access to many sites were restored around 1044 GMT but others were still affected.

Messages such as “Error 503 Service Unavailable” and “connection failure” appeared on the websites of CNN, the Financial Times, The Guardian, France’s Le Monde newspaper, Italy’s Corriere delle Serra and Spanish daily El Mundo as well as social and entertainment site Reddit.

The White House and gov.uk websites had an error message but were available again later.

The BBC and the New York Times were temporarily inaccessible, but also later returned.

A number of websites were down in the Nordic region including those of Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet, news aggregator site Omni, as well as the site of the Swedish social security service Forsakringskassan.

In Denmark, the website of TV2.dk was also down before later returning.

Down Detector, which specializes in internet access problems, said the outages were due to a massive glitch in Fastly.

Fastly is a content delivery network that helps websites speed up loading times and present their content to users. Its clients include Deliveroo, Pinterest and Shazam.

Commenting on the latest cases of cyber attacks of Iranian hackers, counterterrorism experts said, “This is a strong signal of Iran’s notoriety and with such instances, Joe Biden and his administration should immediately withdraw from its wrong intention of returning to nuclear deal with Iran. At the same time, world media should abandon its wrong practices of appeasing Iran and its proxies such as Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis etcetera. Iranian regime deserves to be put under acute international pressure, while the global media should expose Iran’s evil agendas and its connections with terrorist entities.
