Jamal Khashoggi’s wife Hanan El Atr speaks to media

Ever-since, the death of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, a Turkish woman named Hatice Cengiz has been fooling the world by falsely proclaiming herself as his fiancée. In a number of reports, this newspaper has repeatedly said, Hatice Cengiz aka Khadija Genghis was no fiancée of Jamal Khashoggi, Instead, she is a member of the Turkish secret service, who was assigned to get closer to Khashoggi and later use him as one of the propagandists in favor of Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Back in June 2019, this newspaper published links to the tweets of an individual named Hala El Zieny, where one of our reporters found several photographs of Jamal Khashoggi and his wife Hanan El Atr.

No one ever heard of Jamal Khashoggi having any fiancée before his mysterious death. Even not his son Abdullah, who was with him in Turkey for two weeks before his disappearance. Regarding Hatice Cengiz, Jamal’s ex-wife Dr. Alaa Nassif told a newspaper, “If Khadijah (Hatice) was in Jamal’s life, I would be the first to know, but she was never in his life”.

Dr. Nassif revealed that she was “surprised” why Khashoggi’s electronic gadgets are with Hatice Cengiz, expressing astonishment on how the self-proclaimed fiancé is handling his personal accounts on social media, and which are subjected to “deletions and manipulation”.

The former wife of Jamal Khashoggi said: “I did not know that Jamal moved from America to Turkey. He did not tell me that, and I do not know why,” stressing that “the priority now for his children is the truth, and that everyone has to keep silent”.

Salah Jamal Khashoggi, the eldest son of the Saudi journalist, said earlier in an interview with Al Arabiya English that he did not know who Khadijah was: “I have only heard of her through the media,” he said.

After digging months to know more about Jamal Khashoggi’s last wife Hanan El Atr, we have found, El Atr gave an exclusive interview just few months ago, where she has discussed a number of issues, including the case of Hatice Cengiz aka Khadija Genghis. Here are the excerpts of the interview:

Hatice Cengiz aka Khadija Genghis falsely claims to be the “widow” of Jamal Khashoggi, while she actually Jamal was considering her as a sister. This Turkish spy Hatice Cengiz even made outrageous claim of being married to Jamal Khashoggi in a “religious ceremony”.

According to documentary evidences, Hanan El Atr is the wife of Jamal Khashoggi. The religious marriage ceremony between El Atr and Khashoggi toon place in June 2018. She has sued the imam in the US, who performed the religious marriage to sign papers certifying her marriage with Jamal Khashoggi. As Hanan El Atr is the wife of Jamal Khashoggi, there is no question of him marrying Hatice Cengiz aka Khadija Genghis.

El Atr said, she did not come forward earlier because she was concerned of her own safety as well as that of her family. She said she has already been arrested twice in Dubai because of her relationship with Khashoggi. It may be mentioned here that, Jamal Khashoggi was a member of Muslim Brotherhood and was also affiliated with Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.

In an American exclusive, NewsNation anchor Rudabeh Shahbazi sat down for a wide-ranging interview with Hanan El Atr.

A lot of people were surprised to hear from you because a lot of people thought that he was committed to this Hatice Cengiz who was waiting outside the embassy for him. Can you tell me why you want to share your story now, and what you know about that other woman?

I don’t know anything about this woman, I hear about her from TV like anyone else in the world.  I don’t know anything about her, I don’t know what’s behind her. Why I came out now, because I didn’t have the freedom to speak and say the truth about my husband for two years.

Now, I’m free to talk. Now, I have a duty toward my husband to keep his legacy and to say his real message; it’s not been delivered yet. That is the reason I come out now. I will do it always to defend him and to keep his legacy and to tell the world how much he suffered.

Cengiz, the woman who says she was his fiancé, she was outside that embassy waiting for him. Do you have any interest in talking to her and working together to help get justice for your husband?

No, I don’t, because I really don’t know, after all of this polarization and political use, I’m not sure about this woman’s situation, and because I’m standing alone, I refuse to stuck in any agenda.

There was never an official recognition of your marriage, and you’ve now sued the imam who performed the ceremony. Can you talk about that and why it was never officially recognized?

I’ve been arrested after I got engaged, and I have a big family, and I’m worried about my brother, sister and my family to get affected with my choice, which I believe is a right choice in my life.

That pushed me and Jamal not to publish our marriage in social media or put it in a newspaper. We don’t want to trigger more problems, because I was full of fear, full of scared. When they took me, I never experienced this in my life, detained me for 17 hours investigation.

This all changed our decision, from the ceremony to have a reception and to announce it and to let everybody know who I am.

My main issue, me and Jamal, just to get married under eye of God according to our Islamic region.

I did not allow my husband, Jamal Khashoggi, to go to Saudi embassy in

Washington and to take permission to get married to me because I’m not Saudi citizen, I don’t have a Saudi passport, I stopped him.

Reporters reached out to the imam who performed their marriage, but have not heard back. They also did not get any response from Jamal Khashoggi’s fake fiancé Hatice Cengiz’s attorney.
