New York Times opinion columnist Bret L. Stephens, who won Pulitzer Prize for commentary at The Wall Street Journal in 2013, in an article titled ‘Impeach and Convict. Right Now’ has said, Trump is too dangerous to leave in office for even another minute.
Terming Donald Trump a “willful arsonist”, Bret Stephens wrote:
It wasn’t hard to see, when it began, that it would end exactly the way it has. Donald Trump is America’s willful arsonist, the man who lit the match under the fabric of our constitutional republic.
The New York Times opinion columnist has called upon the US House and Senate to impeach and convict Donald Trump and bar him from ever holding office again.
Justifying him demand to impeach and convict Donald Trump, Mr. Stephens wrote:
To allow Trump to serve out his term, however brief it may be, puts the nation’s safety at risk, leaves our reputation as a democracy in tatters and evades the inescapable truth that the assault on Congress was an act of violent sedition aided and abetted by a lawless, immoral and terrifying president.
The New York Times opinion columnist terms Donald Trump as “malignant narcissist”, a “fraudster” in his business, a “bully in his relationship” and a “demagogue” in his politics.
Meanwhile, Robert Tracinski wrote a similar article in the Bulwark with the title ‘Impeach. Convict. Indict’, and said, “Consider me radicalized. Watching Donald Trump’s thugs storm the U.S. Capitol and QAnon crazies roam the Senate and House floors has taken away the last of my interest in calmly waiting out this president during his last two weeks”.
He said, ‘dominant legislative authority’ in the US needs to “immediately impeach and convict Trump and remove him from office for sedition”.
Commenting on the recent anarchism in the US, political analyst say, it may finally result in civil war, as division between Republicans and Democrats is already reached an alarming level.
Can Congress impeach, convict and indict Donald Trump? Replying to this question, analysts say, Ilhan Omar and few more members of the Congress already are taking preparations for impeaching Donald Trump much ahead of January 20 inauguration of Joe Biden. While this bid to impeach and convict Trump is yet uncertain, but most possibly, Donald Trump will play his cards in finally pushing the country towards a civil war.
