Pakistani ISI kills Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada

Within hours of Pakistani secret meetings between Faiz Hameed, chief of Pakistani spy agency Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) and Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders, Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s supreme leader following the death of his predecessor, Akhtar Mansour, has been reportedly killed by secret assassins of Pakistani ISI.

Akhundzada previously served as a senior judge in the sharia court system during the Taliban’s earlier rule of Afghanistan. After 2001 US invasion, he fled across the border into Pakistan and his public profile has been limited, mainly consisting of the release of messages during Islamic holidays.

It may be mentioned here that, within less than a week of the withdrawal of American troops, ISI chief Faiz Hameed has taken an “emergency” trip to Kabul to discuss various strategies of cashing the current situation in Afghanistan by accelerating jihadist notoriety within the Middle Eastern region as well as implement terrorist attacks on the US and Western cities.

Although the trip of ISI chief has been propagated by Islamabad as an “efforts to resolve an evolving internal crisis in the Taliban after reports emerged about a clash between factions between in which the group co-founder Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar suffered injuries, the main agenda behind this trip was totally different. Moreover, none of the media in the world has exposed secret meeting between Faiz Hameed and at least two of the key figures in Al Qaeda.

Commenting on Hameed’s visit, Michael Rubin, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) wrote: Hameed’s emergency visit [to Afghanistan] affirms that the Taliban regime merely is an ISI puppet.

Only couple of days ago, it was believed by the international media that the internal feud inside the Taliban had been resolved agreeing on the group’s supreme leader Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada leading the regime in Afghanistan. He was likely to be the titular head, with one of his deputies, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada heading the day-to-day affairs. But things suddenly took a 180 degree turn when Pakistani ISI chief visited Kabul and held several meetings with Taliban leaders as well as leaders of Al Qaeda.

According to a credible source, Pakistani espionage agency is looking for setting its loyalists inside the Taliban in Afghanistan with at least three Taliban leaders who were groomed by ISI for years.

The source said, Mawlawi Haibatullah Akhundzada may actually have been taken into an unknown place immediately after ISI chief Hameed’s Kabul visit.

Another source said, the internal feud of the Taliban has not been eased as many of the leaders are looking for key position in the government. It said, if there will be no decision by the midnight of September 6, there might be coup and counter coup within the Taliban.
