Philippines authorities seize illegal drugs worth Pesos 130 million

Illegal drugs amounting to at least P130 million were seized in various anti-illegal drug operations from September 1-26 in Central Visayas.

In a data released by the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7), the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), the Lapu-Lapu City Police (LLCPO), the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO), the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) and the Siquijor Provincial Police Office (SPPO) conducted a combined 618 anti-drug operations in the 26-day period and confiscated P138,027,338 worth of illegal drugs.

The seized illegal drugs included 584,240.80 grams of shabu worth P88,107,736 based on the Dangerous Drugs Board value.

A total of 45,589 stalks of marijuana plants worth P49,916,002 were seized, while 18 ampules of Nubain worth P3,600 were also confiscated.

CCPO had the biggest haul after it confiscated P73,570, 532 worth of illegal drugs from 202 operations.

CPPO came in second, conducting 188 operations and seizing P37,938,750 worth of illegal drugs.

Of the seven police offices, the SPPO had the least haul after seizing only .28 grams of illegal drugs worth P1,904 from two operations.

Lt. Col. Marlu Conag, chief of the CPPO’s Intelligence Branch, said they were able to seize sizable of amount of illegal drugs after they created a drug matrix.

Conag said they were able to assemble the matrix based on the details provided by arrested drug suspects.

Conag added that with the help of the matrix, PIB operatives were able to arrest two high-value targets in Barangay Linao, Talisay City last Saturday dawn.

Arrested were Franz Suazo, 18, and Richard Cabras. Packs of suspected worth P4.4 million were seized from the suspects, police said.

Also arrested in the same operation was Clark Aranas, 20, who was allegedly a customer of the two suspected drug pushers.
