A member of the US Military who serves as a valet to President Donald Trump, has tested positive with the coronavirus.
The positive coronavirus was confirmed in a statement by White House Press Secretary Hogan Gidley and reported by The Hill. Gidley noted that both President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have since been tested and their tests have returned negative results.
“We were recently notified by the White House Medical Unit that a member of the United States Military, who works on the White House campus, has tested positive for Coronavirus,” Gidley said. “The President and the Vice President have since tested negative for the virus and they remain in great health.”
The White House valet is reportedly a member of the U.S. Navy and began exhibiting symptoms consistent with the coronavirus on Wednesday morning.
Trump was first tested for coronavirus in March. He and Pence have since been tested regularly throughout the coronavirus pandemic and have consistently returned negative test results despite documented interactions with other individuals who have tested positive. The White House has also implemented temperature checks for guests and reporters entering White House grounds and has enforced spacing in between seats at regular coronavirus press briefings.
