Does state-owned Bangladesh Television (BTV) has reservations in showing due respect to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, or there still are ghosts of Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) occupying key position in there? The degree of negligence of BTV while broadcasting address to the nation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina might have missed the attention of those “media pundits” within the inner-circle of the PM, it did not miss the eyes of others who are fully aware of the required protocol while recording and broadcasting it.

On January 25, 2019 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has addressed the nation following her party’s landslide victory in the December 30 general elections. But unfortunately, we have already identified specific signs of extreme negligence by BTV and the people concerned, which may greatly tarnish the image of the country.

Here are some of the findings:

[1] Whenever Prime Minister addressed the nation, there are two flag – at her left, the national flag of Bangladesh while at her right – the flag of the Prime Minister. During January 25 speech, Prime Minister’s flag was missing,

[2] The Prime Minister should have been seated right under the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. But on January 25, she was seated at the wrong position,

[3] The lighting was extremely insufficient causing lesser resolution of the picture,

[4] In front of the Prime Minister, they placed Orchid, which is not a Bangladeshi flower. Instead of Orchid, they should have used the national flower of Bangladesh or any other flower but not Orchid,

[5] Press Information Department [PID] also has catered a wrong-sized photograph of the Prime Minister, instead of providing a full-frame photo. Even PID’s photo was taken from an angle – not from the front side,

[6] In the address to the nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was presented as the President of ruling Awami League and not the Prime Minister of the country. Otherwise, they should not have placed the electoral symbol of Awami League at the right side of her. Let us not forget, boat the electoral symbol of Awami League is not a national symbol of Bangladesh.

The very first performance of the new team of the Prime Minister certainly has been extremely unimpressive. Anyone involved with such important assignments should have exhibited much brilliance, intellect and sincerity.
