Taliban shows nasty face by restarting sexual enslavement of girls and women

Despite too much optimistic words from US President Joe Biden and his team members, Taliban remains the same evil as they had been before two decades. According to some eye witnesses, today’s Taliban is even worse than those old-day’s one. Within hours of invading Afghanistan and declaring the country an Islamic Emirate, Taliban fighters are looking for young girls, women and even young boys for meeting their sexual luster and perversion. As we know, in July this year, a Taliban directive asked local religious leaders to provide them with a list of girls over 15 and widows under 45 for distributing them amongst the Taliban fighters as sex slaves under the pretense of so-called marriage. But from August 16, 2021, these wild Taliban fighters are also looking for young boys for using them in their notorious sexual perversion.

This Taliban directive serves as a stark warning of what lies ahead and a harsh reminder of their brutal 1996-2001 regime during which women were subjected to persistent human rights violations, denied employment and education, forced to wear the burqa and forbidden from leaving home without a ‘mahram’  – a male guardian.

Furthermore, the Taliban have signaled their intention to deny girls’ education past the age of 12, to ban women from employment and reinstate the law requiring women to be accompanied by a guardian.

Meanwhile, as the world is feeling extremely worried at the Taliban invasion of Afghanistan and the rebranding of the country as Islamic Emirate, members of this terrorist group have started bringing Afghan opium and drug trade under its control.

As Taliban notoriety has started getting widened, journalists, translators, and other vulnerable Afghan nationals who worked with American forces over the past two decades scrambled to find safety as Afghanistan’s president fled and the US Embassy closed.

The increasing onslaught of the Taliban in Afghanistan that includes their move to control women has generated fear.

One of the first moves of the Taliban after taking swift control of over large parts of the country has been to issue a diktat for Afghan women. Minimal resistance and lack of international pressure has coupled to intensify their violence.

For Afghan girls and women, the terror have just begun.

In 2008, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 1820 declaring that “rape and other forms of sexual violence can constitute war crimes, crimes against humanity.” It recognizes sexual violence as a tactic of war intent on humiliating, dominating and instilling fear in civilian members of the community. But Taliban would not respect this UN resolution as Afghanistan has already been declared an Islamic Emirate, meaning there is no more democracy in the country. Afghanistan as an Islamic Emirate is similar to that of Abu Bakr al Baghdadi’s Islamic State (Daesh or ISIS). It has now become the land of terrorism and religious extremism.

While President Joe Biden and his administration are to be held responsible for the Taliban invasion of Afghanistan, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in a statement said: We are deeply concerned about reports regarding the Taliban’s brutal treatment of all Afghans, especially women and girls. The U.S., the international community and the Afghan government must do everything we can to protect women and girls from inhumane treatment by the Taliban.

We know, Ms. Pelosi’s being “deeply concerned” has no real meaning as she also is one of those to be held responsible for the catastrophic situation in today’s Afghanistan and for pushing hundreds and thousands of Afghan girls and women towards total uncertainty.

Unless there was Biden-Harris administration in the White House, Afghanistan becoming an Islamic Emirate was impossible. Taliban should remain grateful to Joe Biden and his team. They should be named as the chief patrons of the Taliban and the era of extreme darkness in the country.
