The central government has decided to extend the deadline for linking PAN card with Aadhaar card. Earlier this deadline was March 31, 2023.

The government has extended the deadline for linking Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar by three months to June 30, 2023. This information was given in an official statement on Tuesday. This will give taxpayers some more time for this process. Earlier its deadline was 31 March.

The statement said that any person will be able to provide his Aadhaar number to the concerned authority for Aadhaar-PAN linking. Any person who has been allotted PAN as on July 1, 2017 and is eligible to obtain an Aadhaar number under the Income Tax Act, 1961, shall intimate his Aadhaar number to the concerned authority by March 31, 2023, on payment of the prescribed fee. will be needed.

Failure to do so could result in a fine from April 1, 2023. Now the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended to June 30, 2023.

If the link is not done before July 1, then the PAN card will be inactive.

From July 1, 2023, the PAN of taxpayers who have failed to furnish their Aadhaar details will become inactive. So far 51 crore PANs have been linked with Aadhaar.
