Meghalaya By-Election Result: UDP captures Sohiong assembly seat, Sinshar Kupar Roy Thabah wins resounding victory

In the by-election for the Sohyeong assembly seat in Meghalaya United Democratic Party K’s candidate Sinshar Kupar Roy Thabah has won. Tell you that, before the assembly elections in the state, the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate H.D.R. This election was being held due to the death of Lyngdoh. Elections were held on the remaining seat on February 27, but the election for this seat was postponed. With the victory in this election, the National People’s Party has increased its number of seats to 30 in the 60-member assembly.

Voting was more than 91.8 percent

Apart from UDP’s Sinshar Lyngdoh Thabah, NPP’s Samlin Malangiang, Congress’s S Osborne Kharjana, HSPDP’s Sandondor Ranthiang, BJP’s Seref E Kharbuki and TMC’s Stodingstar Thabah are among six candidates in the fray. Voting in Sohyeong was held on 10 May, with over 91.8 percent of voters exercising their franchise. There are more than 34,000 voters in this area.

UDP seats 30

Earlier, UPD got 29 seats in the 60-seat Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in the assembly elections held in February-March, which has now increased to 30.
